Bosch continues effort on road safety with special showcase for Proton and Perodua Club communities

Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, 1 July 2012 – Bosch today hosted a special showcase for the Proton Clubs of Malaysia and Perodua MyVi Club. Held at its Automotive Training Centre in Petaling Jaya, the aim of the showcase was to share tips and insights into the latest Bosch automotive products and services, in addition to spreading the message of road safety ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya festive season.

Festive seasons are often marred by horrific stories of road fatalities and the numbers have been on the rise every year. Last year,Ops Sikap 24, an operation carried out by the Royal Malaysian Police, recorded 289 fatalities out of 19,606 road accidents during the Hari Raya season. This is the highest number of road deaths recorded since the operation began a decade ago.

“Proper car inspection and service is a crucial step before embarking on that journey home. As a technology leader in the automotive aftermarket segment, Bosch felt compelled to encourage members of the public to practice proper car maintenance to ensure a safe journey home,” said Woon Kim Hwa, General Manager,  (Sales, Marketing and Service), Automotive Aftermarket, Malaysia and Brunei of Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd.

Mr. Woon added, “The majority of our Malaysian road users today own our local car makes. Through this showcase to partner with two of the largest car clubs in Malaysia, we hope members of the public will gain a better appreciation on the importance of ensuring optimal vehicle performance, as poor vehicle maintenance can result in dangerous consequences.”

The Proton and Perodua car communities were given a special preview of what a standard car inspection at Bosch Car Service entailed. As an added incentive for club members to take the necessary precautions ahead of the “balik kampung” rush, special Bosch Car Service vouchers were given out to participants. The vouchers entitle participants to a free 20-point vehicle check and can be redeemed at any independent Bosch Car Service outlets located throughout the country.

“Our network of 36 independent Bosch Car Service outlets offers car owners the best car service standards possible with the full range of Bosch automotive aftermarket products at their disposal. This ensures that our customers’ cars receive the very best care possible, which is doubly important for those long drives home,” said Mr. Woon.

Participants were given a preview and demonstration of the latest range of Bosch automotive aftermarket products such as its Super Plus spark plugs and Eco+ Wipers, which are compatible with both Proton and Perodua vehicles.

The Proton Preve, the first locally assembled vehicle to feature Electronic Stability Control as a standard option, was also on display, with Bosch representatives walking participants through the benefits of its active safety features.
