Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has a new addition to its performance model line-up with the powerful new Yamaha MT-09 Hyper Naked bike.
Dato’ Jim Khor, Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries Berhad said, “Previously unveiled at a preview during Hong Leong Yamaha Motor’s triple big bike launch in October 2021, this new model has to be one of the most exciting Hyper Naked bike to date.”
Powered by the newly developed 889cc liquid-cooled 3-cylinder engine which is lighter, quicker and more powerful, the MT-09 comes with more torque at lower RPM. The combination of improved combustion efficiency and lighter weight also results in impressive fuel efficiency. In addition to the new engine, the bike’s chassis and bodywork have extensively incorporated weight-reducing technologies, making it considerably lighter than its predecessor which provides the rider with better straight-line stability, handling performance and the longitudinal, lateral, and torsional balance.
The Yamaha MT-09 features a newly developed 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (“IMU”), which comprises of three-rider aids; a Traction Control System (“TCS”), Slide Control System (“SCS”), and front-wheel LIFt control system (“LIF”). All three systems work together to help the rider optimise the motorcycle’s potential. Retaining the base performance of proven IMU in the YZF- R1, while being 50% smaller and 40% lighter, the sophisticated electronics gives a rider the ultimate control in varying weather and surface conditions.
The design concept of the MT-09 accents an exterior that pleases the eye and stimulates the senses. It features a symbolic “Y” Icon LED Taillight to enhance its dynamic look while a compact B-Functional LED Headlight emits a soft and even spread of illumination. The bike is also equipped with a Full-Colour 3.5” TFT Display with bar-type Tachometer that changes colour as the RPM rises or falls, as well as multi-functional displays to provide clear and precise data. Riders can switch between displays and their preferred mode for electronic aids via a handlebar-mounted switch.
The New Yamaha MT-09 will be available at all authorised Yamaha Big Bike Dealers nationwide from 11 November 2021 onwards in a selection of 2 colour options, which are the Icon Blue and Storm Fluo, and is priced at a recommended retail price (“RRP”) of RM 54,998.00 excluding insurance and registration fees. A personalised Big Bike Key Pouch by Royal Selangor will be provided to the first 300 customers while each new owner of the MT-09 model will receive a safety disc lock.
In line with the launch of the new Yamaha MT-09, a variety of bold and stylish merchandise is available on the GenBlu Online Shop for customers as well.
