The is the 3rd generation Hayabusa, powered by an inline-four, 1,340 cc engine, with a power output claimed at 190 PS at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm, this “Bird of Prey” has a 20-litre fuel capacity and weighs in at 264 kg with a 50-50 weight distribution. The seat height is 800 mm.

Braking hardware is by Brembo, consisting of twin Stylema callipers on the front with large rotors. Some of the impressive IMU features are: a cornering ABS function for improved trail braking and slope dependent control system which modulates the braking pressure on downhill slopes to reduce rear wheel lift.

Launch control, cruise control, motion track brake, slope dependent control, hill hold control, active speed limiter and emergency stop signal—A first in the industry and on a Suzuki motorcycle, are features available in the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS).

Suzuki have innovatively come up with a hill-hold system which automatically engage the rear brake for 30 seconds if you come to a stop on an incline and this even works when you release the brakes after a firm squeeze on the brake lever. A little [H] will appear on the display when active.

An up-and-down quick shifter to ensure smooth and fast gear changes is available on this six-speed, chain driven Busa. Naturally, in keeping things under control on the Hayabusa calls for a full suite of riding aids, including ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, wheel lift control, engine braking and different riding modes to suit the road or riding condition.

Suzuki added the fun factor on the Hayabusa by adding a Launch Control that comes with three modes from which the rider can choose from.

– LC Mode 1 limits to 4,000 RPM for smooth, softer acceleration from a stop.

– LC Mode 2 limits to 6,000 RPM for a moderate, stronger acceleration characteristic from a stop.

– LC Mode 3 limits to 8,000 RPM for the strongest and quickest acceleration from a stop.

Suzuki has added more power and torque on this latest Hayabusa for a better low and mid-range performance. I am also impressed with its roll-on acceleration which I am able to pull off effortless from 50km/h in 6th gear. In traffic jams, the Busa maintains the engine temperature relatively well. Highway cruising is a breeze, with the smooth engine, the new cruise control system and the superb stability of the Busa.

There are three colour options for the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa in Malaysia – Glass Sparkle Black with Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Matte Sword Silver with Candy Daring Red and Pearl Brilliant Whit with Metallic Matte Stellar

In my opinion the new Hayabusa gets to relive itself its renowned reputation with some added bells and whistle. This will be a journey to remember for Suzuki Japan and Suzuki Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

This 2021, 3rd generation Suzuki Hayabusa is priced at RM111,200 for the Malaysian market.
