STRONG LINE UP FOR DAVIES MOTORSPORT CLASSIC TT CAMPAIGN

Davies Motorsport, founded by ex-racer John Davies, has lined up a strong pair of riders for their 2013 Classic TT campaign.

The Burton-on-Trent based outfit will have TT star William Dunlop, who achieved his first Mountain Circuit podium in 2012, on their sublime DaviesMotorSport.com 4 cylinder 500cc and 350cc Hondas.

Leading Classic Racing campaigner Alan Oversby will ride the teams other 4 cylinder 500cc Honda alongside a 350cc machine. The Bolton-le-Sands man has a total of five podiums to date on the Mountain Course including a race win in the 2006 Ultra LIghtweight Manx Grand Prix.

Davies Motorsport was founded in 2006 after ex racer Davies decided to come out of racing retirement to try his hand at classic bike racing. John Davies competed at the Manx GP between 1978 and 1997, in a total of 33 races and finishing as high as 2nd place, whilst collecting 27 Silver Replicas. He teamed up with his nephew Colin Davies, a Grand Prix racing technician, to help him build a Honda 350K4 race bike. They have since added a Drixton 500 Honda and the 4 cylinder 500cc Honda’s to their stable.

Team boss John Davies commented:

“We are delighted to be a part of the new Classic TT Races and are really looking forward to competing in 2013. I’m really happy with the riders that we’ve got on our bikes this year. It will be a real honour to have a Dunlop racing in our colours while Alan is a really consistent performer around the Mountain Course.”

Paul Phillips, TT and Motorsport Manager, Isle of Man Government, commented:

“Alan Oversby is a real stalwart of Classic Racing and knows the Mountain Course as well as anyone while William continues to establish himself as a leading TT rider and his two stroke derived riding style is sure to suit the characteristics of classic racing machines. John Davies’ Honda’s are a real work of art and will really add to the sights and sounds at this year’s inaugural Classic TT.”
