Kawasaki Motors Malaysia launched their latest off road model, the Kawasaki KLX 150L to the media on the 18th August 2014 appropriately at the Selayang Motocross Track in Ulu Yam Kampung Batu Selangor. Gracing the launch were, Director of Kawasaki Motors Malaysia, Mr. Ahmad Faez Yahaya, General Manager Mr. Jeffrey Lim, Technical and Factory controller of Kawasaki Motors Malaysia Mr. Satoru Akitsu, members of the media and Kawasaki Premium dealers.

Speaking at the launch, YM Raja Dato’ Hanipuddin Bin Raja Dato’ Nong Chik executive Chairman of Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd highlighted that in a duration of 8 months, Kawasaki Motors Malaysia have launched 5 new models. Namely the Ninja 1000, Z1000, Ninja 250SL, Z250SL and now the large-wheel KLX 150L. A sheer determination of Kawasaki Motors Malaysia to achieve a dominant market presence and to develop the Malaysian motorcycle market.
The KLX 150L is a dual-purpose bike which has been upgraded from its earlier model, the KLX 150S that was launched back in 2009. The upgrades include larger wheels, wider tyre size, revised final gear ratio to suit the wheel size, longer swing arm, lower seat height but higher ground clearance by 50mm and aluminium rims.

YM Raja Dato’ Hanipuddin Bin Raja Dato’ Nong Chik adds that they are targeting customers with the age range from 17 to 40 years of age. “Our current achievement of registered KLX 150S from January to June 2014 is at 18% or 900 units. The target registration for this new model KLX 150L is around 2, 500 units or 25% market share. In the first half of 2014, the 150cc Dual-Purpose segment registered about 4, 800 units and we foresee this segment to grow to about 9, 500 units by the end of the year”

The launch was further brighten up with the presence of Mr. Khairi Zakaria, The FIM Asia Supermoto Champion for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013 who lead the launch gambit with the KLX 150L and thereafter a short stunt performance.
