2014 Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup season set to kick off with training camp in Spain

The first ever Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup Championship will get underway next week with a test staged at MotorLand Aragón in Spain from 17-20 February. It will be the first time this year that the 22 selected Asian young riders get to grips with the official Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup Honda NSF250R Moto3 motorcycles, powered by Shell V-Power fuel and lubricated with Shell Advance 4T Ultra oil, as they prepare for the season ahead.

This four-day training camp will give all riders the chance to understand the bike they will be racing on, and get used to competing in what will act as a feeder series to the world of motorcycle racing. This is the only opportunity they will have to out on track before the racing action begins at the Grand Prix of Qatar on the penultimate weekend in March.

The 22 talents will then go on to race in Indonesia (Sentul), China (Zhuhai), Japan (Motegi) and Malaysia (Sepang) – on MotoGP race weekends or in independent events.

Andrew Hepher, General Manager Marketing Consumer Brands and Product, Shell Lubricants: “The Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup is about to start and we are really excited about it. We can’t wait to see the 22 riders in action in Spain as they prepare for what we are convinced will be a fantastic first season of racing, when we find out what rider has what it takes to win. We are very proud to be part of this project and also be in a position to give young talent from the Asian region a path into competitive racing.”
