Volvo Car Malaysia is renaming Volvo EC40 – the brand’s first crossover SUV offered exclusively as an electric model. Originally launched in December 2022 as the popular Volvo C40 Recharge, the Volvo EC40 now features an extended range of 554km* and a new Cloud Blue exterior, underscoring the brand’s commitment to streamlined model naming and enhanced customer transparency.
The Volvo EC40 retains many of the standout features and after-sales offerings, including:
- An 82kWh battery pack that supports a higher maximum DC charging input of 200kW—allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 28 minutes**
- Advanced pixel headlights equipped with sensors that intelligently adjust brightness to optimise driver visibility
- Five years of complimentary Digital Services, offering seamless access to Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Play Store, and remote functions via the Volvo Cars App
- Five-year complimentary Volvo Service Plan (VSP) which includes comprehensive, scheduled servicing via your authorised Volvo Service Centre for further peace of mind
Further enhancing its appeal further, the Volvo EC40 now comes in an eye-catching exterior colour – Cloud Blue, joining the existing Onyx Black, Crystal White, Silver Dawn, and Sage Green options. Furthermore, the Volvo EC40 has seen a slight improvement in range per single charge, with the ability to now cover 554km*
Under the hood, the Volvo EC40 is available in a top-tier twin motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant featuring a second-generation, in-house developed permanent magnet rear electric motor. With a maximum output of 300kW, this configuration emphasises dynamic power delivery at the rear, providing an engaging and responsive driving experience.
“In introducing the renamed Volvo EC40, we are not just upgrading our current electric SUV line-up, but we are also paving the way for an expansive lineup later this year. Whether our customers desire the versatility of a spacious 7-seater for family adventures or the agility of a compact 5-seater for urban journeys, our evolving portfolio is designed to meet every lifestyle and preference,” said Chris Tan, Sales Director of Volvo Car Malaysia.
The introduction of the Volvo EC40 is part of Volvo’s ongoing electrification transformation. In 2024, BEV and plug-in hybrid models represented 83 percent of our total retail sales, up from 71 percent the previous year. To date, Volvo Car Malaysia has introduced three fully electric models—the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, the Volvo EX30, and the Volvo EC40—with our much-anticipated flagship, the Volvo EX90, set to hit the roads later this year.
Priced at RM288,888***— consistent with its predecessor, the Volvo EC40 is available with flexible financing options and attractive lower interest rates through Volvo Car Financial Services. Customers who book the Volvo EC40 from now till 31 March 2025 will also enjoy a complimentary wall box voucher worth RM5,000.
