UMW TOYOTA MOTOR EXPANDS GAZOO RACING LINEUP WITH THE GR SUPRA TRACK EDITION AND GR YARIS AUTOMATIC VARIANT
Motorsport-Bred Precision Meets Road-Ready Performance in Toyota’s Latest GR Lineup
SHAH ALAM, 28 APRIL 2025 – UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd today adds two new powerhouses to its Gazoo Racing family with the arrival of the GR Supra Track Edition and the GR Yaris Automatic Variant, now available with the newly developed 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. These two models bring motorsport engineering and rally-proven capabilities to everyday roads, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to deliver exhilarating, driver-focused experiences.
The GR Supra Track Edition builds on a legacy that spans over four decades, with sharper handling, enhanced chassis control and purposeful track-ready styling. Meanwhile, the GR Yaris Automatic Variant introduces an automatic variant with world-class transmission response, extending the GR brand’s reach to a broader range of enthusiasts without compromising its motorsport roots.

GR Supra Track Edition Pushes The Limit further for Faster Lap Times
Introduced as the flagship of the GR lineup, the GR Supra has always carried the weight of Toyota’s motorsport ambition. With the Track Edition, it becomes even more focused, thanks to a series of chassis, handling and aerodynamic upgrades designed for drivers who demand absolute confidence on the edge.
Under the hood lies a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 388 PS and 500 Nm of torque, matched to either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 4.1 seconds for the automatic, and 4.3 seconds for the manual.
Performance gains come from more than just power. The Adaptive Variable Suspension has been retuned for greater grip. The Electric Power Steering and Limited Slip Differential both receive Track Edition-exclusive control mapping for sharper feedback and better stability, especially under high-speed cornering. The larger 374mm front discs, paired with 4-piston Brembo calipers, provide stronger and more consistent braking under repeated load.
The car’s aerodynamics have also been refined with expanded tyre spats, aero flaps, and a carbon fibre ducktail spoiler to increase downforce. The reinforced front control arm and front negative camber adjustment enhance agility, while reinforced bushings and stiffer stabiliser bars further sharpen its response.
The GR Supra Track Edition rides on lightweight 19-inch matte black forged alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. Engineered to reduce unsprung mass, these wheels enhance handling, responsiveness, and the car’s overall track-focused performance.
Inside, the cabin features black Alcantara and leather upholstery with GR embroidery, red seatbelts, and a red-ring shift knob for the manual variant. A 12-speaker JBL HiFi surround system and colour Head-Up Display complete the driver-focused cockpit.
Toyota Supra Safety is equipped as standard, with active systems such as Pre-Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, and Emergency Braking support through intelligent parking sensors.
The GR Supra Track Edition is available from a starting price of RM698,000.00, reflecting its exclusive performance enhancements and track-focused engineering.
GR Yaris Expands Lineup with New 8-Speed Automatic Variant and Enhanced Performance
Originally launched in 2021, the GR Yaris has earned its reputation as a rally-inspired machine engineered for pure driving fun. Earlier this year, UMWT unveiled the facelifted model with a manual transmission during Season 7 finale of Toyota Gazoo Racing Malaysia. That momentum now continues with the launch of a new variant featuring the 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission, designed to make its performance more accessible and intuitive for a wider range of drivers.

GR Yaris
Developed with feedback from the Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team, the 8-speed automatic transmission delivers fast and precise gear shifts based on how the driver engages the accelerator and brake. Unlike conventional automatics that respond to vehicle behaviour, this system reads driver intent early, providing sharper response and a more connected feel during spirited driving.
At the heart of the GR Yaris remains the world’s most powerful 3-cylinder turbocharged engine. Still delivering 300 PS and 400 Nm of torque, it propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. For the automatic variant, this high-output powertrain is paired with a standard cooling package that includes a sub radiator, intercooler spray, and a combined water-cooled and air-cooled ATF cooler to ensure consistent performance even in hot Malaysian conditions.
The GR Yaris Automatic Variant brings more than just a new transmission. It introduces Launch Control, a performance feature that optimises engine torque and traction to deliver sharper, more controlled acceleration from a standstill. This system is designed to help drivers get off the line with precision during spirited or closed-course driving. Paired with the quick-shifting 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission and motorsport-calibrated paddle shifters, the GR Yaris automatic offers a driving experience that feels both responsive and intuitive, bringing the emotional spirit of rally driving into everyday journeys.
As with all GR models, safety is a priority. The GR Yaris Automatic Variant comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes enhanced Pre-Collision and Radar Cruise Control systems, Lane Tracing Assist, and Expert Mode for experienced drivers who want more dynamic control without fully disengaging stability systems.
The GR Yaris Automatic Variant is offered at RM325,600.00, delivering rally-bred performance with added accessibility for daily driving.
Both the GR Supra Track Edition and Because great driving should be thrilling, accessible, and shared with joy.
