TQ WULING yesterday officially launched the highly anticipated TQ WULING Bingo EV (electric vehicle) in Malaysia, marking a major milestone in making electric mobility more accessible to everyday Malaysians.

The locally assembled compact electric hatchback is offered in two well-equipped variants, the Bingo PRO priced at RM67,800 and the Bingo MAX at RM72,800, positioning it as one of the most affordable EVs options available in Malaysia. To celebrate the launch, TQ WULING is offering exclusive benefits via Bingo’s Fabulous Five Perks, which includes a RM5,000 cash rebate. This brings the on-the-road (OTR) price to RM62,800 for the Bingo PRO and RM67,800 for the Bingo MAX.

The TQ WULING Bingo is the first model introduced under the TQ WULING brand, which stems from a strategic collaboration between Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (TCMH) and SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW). This partnership brings together Tan Chong’s decades of local market and manufacturing experience and distribution strength, and SGMW’s proven leadership in global electric vehicle technology.

“This launch represents a significant milestone for Tan Chong Group as we proudly introduce a highly affordable electric vehicle option for all Malaysians. As the first EV to be locally assembled at the Tan Chong Plant – built on nearly 50 years of automotive manufacturing and assembly heritage – the Bingo EV reflects our commitment towards advancing the nation’s electric mobility landscape. We are honoured to play a humble role in driving Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem forward,” said Daniel Ho, Group CEO of Tan Chong Motor Holdings.

“By combining global EV technology with local manufacturing expertise, the Bingo EV brings world-class electric mobility to Malaysia at an attainable price point,” Ho added.

Speaking at the event, Lisa Li, Chief Operating Officer of the Overseas Business Department of the Overseas Division of SAIC-GM-Wuling expressed confidence in the brand’s expansion in Malaysia. “With our expertise in EVs, combined with Tan Chong Group’s strong market presence and manufacturing strength, we are excited to support Malaysia’s green mobility transition and bring sustainable driving solutions to local consumers. The ASEAN region is a key market for SGMW’s overall strategic plan, with key focus on Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand,” said Li.

With our Fabulous 5 Perks, the Bingo EV becomes a truly compelling choice, combining attractive rebates, convenient charging solutions, and peace-of-mind assurances such as comprehensive insurance and warranty coverage,” said Wan Wei Sun, Head of Business, TQ Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.

Performance and driving experience

Designed with everyday Malaysians in mind, the Bingo EV is developed to meet the needs of urban drivers seeking efficiency, style, comfort and practicality in a city-friendly form.

The Pro variant features a 31.9 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery while the Max offers a larger 37.9 kWh capacity. The Bingo Max delivers up to 410 km of CLTC-rated driving range, while the Pro offers up to 333 km.

Both variants are powered by a front-mounted 50 kW electric motor paired with a single-speed reduction gear and front-wheel drive, producing 68 PS and 150 Nm of torque. This setup provides smooth acceleration along with energy efficiency and easy drivability, ensuring the Bingo EV is well-suited for daily commuting and dense urban traffic.

Battery and charging

The Bingo EV is powered by SGMW’s proprietary MAGIC Battery system—an advanced, proven technology developed by one of China’s most established automotive manufacturers with more than two decades of EV innovation.

The MAGIC Battery has been tested across more than three million EVs worldwide with zero recorded fire incidents, demonstrating exceptional real-world safety performance. It has successfully passed extensive durability and safety tests, including heat and fire exposure, over-discharge, over charge, external short-circuit, nail penetration and pressure testing.

Designed with a comprehensive “5 ZERO” Safety Assurance, the MAGIC Battery ensures these crucial advantages:

  • ZERO Fire Risk — multi-layer thermal protection prevents overheating and thermal runaway.
  • ZERO Water Ingress — IP68-certified waterproofing protects the battery in heavy rain or flooded conditions.
  • ZERO Corrosion — robust casing and anti-corrosion treatment for long-term durability.
  • ZERO Performance Degradation Under Normal Use — stable battery chemistry for consistent range and efficiency.
  • ZERO Worries for Users — full-stack safety engineering from design to real-world operation.

This holistic approach makes the MAGIC Battery one of the most reliable and trusted EV battery systems in this segment.

Engineered for long-term reliability, the battery carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, offering peace of mind when driving in Malaysia’s unpredictable weather, heavy rain or flood-prone areas.

Smart energy management features include efficient regenerative braking and intelligent thermal management, which together help preserve battery health, improve range stability and enhance everyday usability.

Fast charging via DC supply brings the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 35 minutes, while overnight AC charging to full capacity (from 0 percent to 100 percent) completes in roughly 4.5 hours for the Pro and 5.5 hours for the Max.

Retro cool for modern everyday living

Dimensionally, the car measures 3,950 mm in length, 1,708 mm in width and 1,580 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. This compact footprint makes the Bingo EV agile for navigating urban traffic and tight city streets, yet the wheelbase ensures cabin space remains practical for everyday use.

The Bingo EV’s exterior presents a distinctive blend of retro-chic charm and modern EV sensibilities, designed to stand out in urban traffic while remaining friendly and approachable. Its body is sculpted with smooth, rounded curves rather than sharp, aggressive edges — giving it a playful, friendly silhouette that reflects the brand’s aim of “EV mobility for everyday Malaysians.”

At the front, the Bingo EV adopts a closed-grille design complemented by a pair of striking X-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and matching LED headlamps. This signature lighting design is echoed at the rear, where the taillights reflect the same stylised pattern, creating visual harmony and a distinctive “face” that is recognisable even at night.

The use of a two-tone paint scheme — body in colour, roof in contrasting black — further enhances the Bingo’s youthful and modern character. For the Malaysian market, TQ WULING offers three body colour options: Milky White, Neon Blue and Lavender Purple, all paired with a Black Roof, enabling buyers to pick a look that matches their personality.

Inside the cabin, the Bingo EV continues the theme of “retro-inspired modernity.” The interior features a dual-tone colour scheme paired with soft leatherette upholstery in Caramel Latte colour. Seats are finished in perforated leatherette for comfort and breathability, while interior trim panels use a “glossy ceramic” texture to convey a sense of premium finish in a compact EV.

One of the cabin’s standout touches is the “floating-island” style centre console and dashboard layout, which houses dual 10.25-inch screens — one serving as the digital instrument cluster and another for the touchscreen infotainment system. These screens support smartphone connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This modern cockpit layout — combined with a two-tone steering wheel, a rotary gear selector on the centre console, and a minimalistic yet functional instrument layout — gives the interior a tech-savvy but user-friendly vibe.

Practicality has not been sacrificed for design: the interior includes 15 separate compartments for small items, while cargo capacity is generous for its class — with the boot offering from 395 litres up to 1240 litres of storage when the rear seats are folded down, making the car flexible for daily commuting, groceries, or weekend trips.

Comfort and convenience features are also well thought out: the driver’s seat is six-way electric-adjustable, facilitating a comfortable driving position for a variety of body types. The car also offers conveniences such as keyless entry with walkaway auto-lock/unlock, cruise control, electronic air conditioning with physical buttons for easy access, electronic parking brake with Auto-Hold and a rotary gear selector for a clean, uncluttered console.

Safety You Can Rely On

The Bingo EV is engineered with a strong focus on occupant protection and structural integrity. Its body structure incorporates 1,500 MPa ultra-high tensile steel in key areas, providing a stable and durable foundation without adding unnecessary weight. This ensures the vehicle maintains both safety and efficiency in everyday driving conditions.

The vehicle comes with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including six airbags available across both variants, designed to protect occupants in the event of a collision. With this, Malaysia becomes the first market globally to offer the Bingo EV with six airbags – a clear testament to TQ WULING’s commitment to meeting the safety expectations of customers.

The Bingo EV is also fitted with advanced braking and stability systems, including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). These features ensure consistent braking performance and stable handling across a wide range of road conditions, giving drivers confidence and peace of mind.

Complementing these systems are essential safety features such as a Blind Spot Warning System, EntrySafe System, Walkaway Auto-lock/unlock, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a Low-Speed Pedestrian Alarm. Together, they enhance daily driving awareness and provide extra reassurance in busy urban environments, helping drivers stay informed, alert and confident on the road.

Warranty & Network

The TQ WULING Bingo EV comes with an 8-year/120,000km* EV battery warranty, 8-year/160,000km* drive motor warranty and 5-year/150,000km* vehicle warranty against manufacturing defects, giving owners complete peace of mind (*whichever comes first).

To support customers, six dedicated TQ WULING showrooms are already available across Peninsular Malaysia, complemented by seven aftersales centres through the established Tan Chong service network with additional outlets planned in the pipeline.
