Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) unveils the newest generation of its locally-assembled SUVs, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200, Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC as well as the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC Coupé to strengthen its position as the leader in the premium SUV segment in Malaysia.

“With the new generation Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up, we are redefining the standards of luxury SUV segment in Malaysia by combining a different level of mobility and innovation. As part of our product offensive strategy, the line-up offers our customers comfort and luxury beyond what you would expect from an SUV, in addition to the spaciousness, practicality as well as the performance,” said Michael Jopp, Vice President, Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

Get connected with Mercedes me connect.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia introduces the powerful new platform that allows Mercedes-Benz owners to remain connected to their vehicles, Mercedes me connect. The service will be made available in 2020 on-wards, starting with the new generation GLC range launched today. With a simple tap of the screen, customers are able to access a full suite of connected services to easily manage their vehicles right from their mobile devices.

“We leap ahead with our digital initiatives to revolutionize customer experiences with the showcase of the Mercedes me connect. This platform allows our customers to become part of an intelligently connect world with direct access to their vehicles at the tip of their fingers. Mercedes me connect enhances the ownership experience with comfort and convenience that gives our customers more reasons to love their car. With this, the future really is here,” said Michael Jopp, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

To begin using Mercedes me connect, owners are required to define and activate their vehicle on the Mercedes me portal where they will be conveniently guided through all the necessary steps. The Mercedes me connect application can be downloaded from both, the Apple App Store as well as the Google Play Store. The application is designed to work with Android and Apple devices, including the Apple Watch.

Upgrade your Mercedes with Mercedes me Adapter

For customers with Mercedes-Benz vehicles that are built after 2002 without connected functionality, they will still be able to enjoy the experience of connected features through the Mercedes me Adapter and become part of the intelligently networked world. The adapter is a retrofit telematics solution consisting of an adapter, an application and integration into the central Mercedes-Benz systems. It is inserted into the diagnostics interface (the OBD2 connector) of the vehicle.

With the Mercedes me Adapter and application, customers are able to benefit the following services amongst others:

  • Information about the current vehicle status: fuel level, mileage, parking location and time
  • Find parking garages with prices, opening times and occupancy – [Note from Motorbugs editor] – We hope to get a test unit to see if this actually works in Malaysia as some systems are only for European / The Americas market.
  • “Cockpit”-Mode with live vehicle data, e.g. engine load, oil temperature and average speed
  • “Car Health Monitor” for a fast support in case of warning lights from the vehicle
  • Trip list and refueling list with export and editing function
  • Find, contact and book appointments with Mercedes-Benz Service Partners
  • Reminder function for important due dates such as main inspection

The Mercedes me Adapter is priced at RM250 and its available from Quarter 1, 2020. For a full overview on the Mercedes me Adapter, kindly visit www.mercedes-benz.com.my/mma or contact our 24-hour Customer Care Centre at the toll-free number; 1-800-88-1133 or email cs.mys@cac.mercedes-benz.com

Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 & GLC 300 4MATIC

Powered by the 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine (M264), the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 and GLC 300 4MATIC produce output of 145 kW (197 hp) and 320 Nm of torque and 190 kW (258 hp) and 370 Nm of torque, respectively. The nine-stage 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission also comes as standard on both.

Muscularly sculpted surfaces and distinctive details such as the chrome elements, which now run from the front to the rear end as standard, the redesigned LED high performance headlamps and the heavily contoured radiator grille on the GLC 200 ensure a strong off-road character. These are included in the Optical Off-road package, along with the 20-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels.

The GLC 300 4MATIC, on the other hand, is equipped with the Night Package based on the AMG Line exterior that features striking, black design elements to underline the vehicle’s sporty and expressive character while enhancing the exclusivity and high-quality details of the exterior. It comes with the 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and the MULTIBEAM LED headlamps which respond to traffic situations with individually controllable LEDs, giving the impression of emotion, presence and dominance at the very first glance. A further highlight is the panoramic sliding sunroof which lets plenty of light penetrate the vehicle’s interior through its large glass surface to lend the vehicle a bright, feel-good atmosphere.

On the inside, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 and GLC 300 4MATIC are adorned with the Exclusive Line and AMG Line packages, respectively. Both SUVs come with the illuminated door sills whereby the word “Mercedes-Benz” is illuminated in brilliant white, set in an elegantly machined stainless steel panel on the door sill. The ARTICO Leather upholstery in both the SUVs makes seats even more sophisticated which turns into the space for experiences. The MBUX is complemented by a fully-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster with display styles – “Classic”, “Progressive” and “Sporty”. The touch-operated media display, on the other hand is 10.25-inch in size, with the resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 features a suspension for higher ground clearance. The damping is controlled individually for each wheel according to the driving situation, vehicle speed and the condition of the road surface. The AGILITY CONTROL suspension with selective damping system in the GLC 300 4MATIC combines balanced ride comfort and high driving stability. Thanks to the passive damping system, the driver will benefit from superior ride comfort on every road surface. Ride characteristics, damping effects and stabilization are continuously and automatically adapted to the condition of the road surface.
