Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the sole distributor for Ford in Malaysia, has expanded its next-generation Ranger line-up with the addition of a 2.0-litre XL 4×4 Single Cab Manual variant offering a durable, reliable and trusted work partner for customers in the country.
Priced at RM98,888 (on-the-road, without insurance and road tax, for Peninsular Malaysia) and RM104,388 (on-the-road, without insurance and road tax, for East Malaysia), the next-gen Ranger XL Single Cab is powered by Ford’s proven 2.0-litre Single-Turbo diesel engine to deliver 170 PS at 3,500 rpm and peak torque of 405 Nm at 1,750-2,500 rpm. The powertrain is paired with a new six-speed manual transmission that was four years in development and features a new gear set for smoother shifts.
“While customers are increasingly choosing the Ranger for lifestyle reasons, we are mindful that there is a significant segment procuring it solely for its utilitarian purpose as a tough workhorse. With the addition of this XL Single Cab to our next-generation Ranger line-up, customers have a basic entry-level pickup that they can trust to get the job done and done well,” said Turse Zuhair, Managing Director, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford.
Built to do more

Ground clearance is also higher at 230 mm.
There are also six cargo tie-down hooks on strong steel tube rails that provide convenient points for securing loads.
For more versatility at remote work sites, the tailgate can also double up as a mobile workbench with an integrated ruler and clamp pockets to measure, grip and cut building materials.

Despite being a base variant, the next-generation Ranger XL Single Cab also comes standard with a high-level of integrated technology that is comparable to the rest of its higher-priced siblings.
At the heart of this connective experience is the huge first-in-class 10.1-inch touchscreen and Ford’s voice-activated SYNC® 4A communications and entertainment system with Wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.
A reconfigurable eight-inch colour digital instrument panel replaces the analogue system, allowing more information to the presented to the driver.
Other equipment highlights and safety features include two USB ports, one 12-volt power socket, two airbags, an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control with traction control, hill descent control, hill launch assist, rollover mitigation, and trailer sway control.

Customers can also choose an extended warranty of up to seven years for more peace of mind, as well as opt for an extended service package, through which they can make upfront payments for scheduled services for up to five years. A key benefit is cost savings as they can lock-in the current price amidst rising costs and build the payments into their loan.
