Dominar D400 will be an ideal bike for the urban warriors. Priced at RM13,997 (does not include road tax, insurance, or registration). It comes in 2-color option – Savanna and Charcoal Black.
The Dominar D400 power plant is derived from a DOHC, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, displacing at 373 CC. This new D400 gets an additional 5 PS to a total of 40 PS compared to the previous model.
The suspensions have been upgraded. Replacing the previous telescopic front fork is a new 43 mm diameter upside-down forks. And for the rear, from a fixed mono-shock suspension to a multi-step mono-shock with adjustable preload.
By making these changes Modenas has made the bike so enjoyable to ride. As I am slightly of a larger build than the average Asian, these improvements made to the suspension really smoothens out the ride.
With a mix of town and highway riding across state lines, I can safely say that the fuel economy of this Dominar D400 is excellent. With a large13 litre fuel tank, the owner does not need to refill every other day.
Brakes Brakes …. The most important part of a 2-wheeler. Equipped with a single 320 mm disc on the front and a 230 mm disc at the back and fitted with the almighty two-channel ABS on a 17-inch rim. It is more than sufficient for town or highway riding within its speed limits or even during hard evasive braking.
Ridding this 182kg Dominar D400 turned out to be pretty fun as the bike is quite agile. Compared to its predecessor there is an additional LCD display that comes with a gear selector indicator mounted on the top of the fuel tank for this new D400.
Overall, the bike is easy to handle and good for day-to-day use even in heavy traffic.
