PEUGEOT LANDTREK
Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB), the sole distributor for the PEUGEOT brand in Malaysia recently announced the official launch of the alluring new PEUGEOT LANDTREK pickup truck and its debut in ASEAN.
The new PEUGEOT LANDTREK embodies PEUGEOT’s brand values: ALLURE, EMOTION and EXCELLENCE. It offers Malaysian customers a new choice of pick-up that is renowned for its ruggedness and adaptability to suit both professional and family needs.
In attendance at the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK launch, Daniel Gonzalez, the newly appointed COO for Stellantis’ ASEAN & General Distributors, said “Stellantis has doubled its sales volume in the ASEAN region in the past two years with significant contributions from our importer partners including Bermaz Auto. In 2023, we aim for continued growth in the region through localization efforts and higher sales with our activity, driven by the Dare Forward 2030 strategic business plan. With PEUGEOT’s long history and expertise in the pickup truck segment, we are confident that the PEUGEOT LANDTREK will be a success in Malaysia and with people who love trucks.”
PEUGEOT is unique in the automotive world as the only brand that is still in business with over two centuries of existence. It is also a long-standing player in the pickup truck segment.
As early as 1938, PEUGEOT offered a commercial flatbed vehicle derived from the PEUGEOT 202, followed by the PEUGEOT 203 after the Second World War, and then the PEUGEOT 403 AND 404. Finally, in 1979, the PEUGEOT 504 was introduced and officially named Pickup, with more than 375,000 units produced.
That deep history and expertise is seen in the trucks manufactured now. The PEUGEOT LANDTREK is a mid-sized pickup truck built with all the essential elements of the pickup segment: reliability, ease of maintenance, versatility, real off-road capabilities, as well as towing and loading performance. With its remarkable styling, enhanced modularity and unique body size, it meets the expectations of a demanding customer base, offering record-breaking body capacity, reinforced versatility and SUV-like comfort – all while exuding its own sturdy Allure.
Since its global introduction in 2020, the PEUGEOT LANDTREK has continued its offensive in 2022 globally with an 81.1% increase in sales compared to the previous year in the Middle East and Africa region. As a testimonial to its success, the PEUGEOT LANDTREK was awarded Product of the Year in Ghana last year.
Featuring an attractive and alluring styling, the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK is a new choice of mid-size pickup designed to handle city roads and tough terrains while complementing outdoor leisure activities. A new game changer in the pick-up market, the PEUGEOT LANDTREK features state-of-the-art onboard technology, advanced adaptability and SUV-like driving pleasure that Malaysians will appreciate.
The LANDTREK’S exterior design exudes a strong personality that fits the PEUGEOT brand’s current vehicle line-up, with signature brand features like a vertical grille with the PEUGEOT Lion emblem in the center and LED signature lighting on both the front and rear. The alloy rims were created to give a distinctive look.
The new PEUGEOT LANDTREK’s interior has been meticulously designed to include many of the features found in other PEUGEOT models. A 10-inch HD touch screen compatible with Apple Carplay™ and Android Auto™ offers seamless connectivity to integrate with your devices, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, as well the piano-style ‘toggle switches’ that provide access to all the various functions of the vehicle.
In terms of interior comfort, the front seats of the PEUGEOT LANDTREK feature stylish and comfortable independent seats with a central armrest. Overall, the passenger compartment is both spacious and relaxing. There is a 1,550mm wide shoulder room in the second row and knee space of approximately 50mm, ensuring the comfort of all passengers. Meanwhile, getting into the vehicle is made easier with seven grab handles in the passenger compartment for easier access.
For the rear area comfort, special attention was paid to the three rear passenger seats wherein the backrest can be tilted 23 degrees to provide greater comfort. The modularity of the rear bench seats in the PEUGEOT LANDTREK adds considerable versatility to the cabin with the possibility of folding the backrest in 60/40 split or 100%.
Additionally, the rear seat cushions can be tipped-up in a 60/40 split to allow flexible loading configurations. When folded down, the backrests can support a load of up to 100kg. The rear bench seats are equipped with two ISOFIX fasteners to ensure the safety and docking of child seats.
The new PEUGEOT LANDTREK is equipped with ample safety equipment including cameras which display a 360˚ panoramic view around the vehicle to help the driver overcome obstacles or narrow spaces, further aided by additional front and rear obstacle sensors. In addition, safety is enhanced by six airbags and an Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) that includes the Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC) which keeps the vehicle at controlled speeds, thus allowing the driver to concentrate on steering. Drivers can also count on the Lane Departure Warning to keep the vehicle in its lane via audible and visual alerts.
The new PEUGEOT LANDTREK comes equipped with a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine with an output of 150 horsepower through the variable turbine geometry, producing 350 Nm of torque via its 6-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain powers the LANDTREK’s ability to handle all kinds of terrains such as city roads, highways or hilly terrain.
With up to 235mm of ground clearance, the new PEUGEOT LANDTREK is equipped with necessary technology to handle rough roads, such as the mechanical rear differential lock which provides extra traction when one-wheel slips. The transfer case allows for easy transfer between 2-High, 4-High and 4-Low modes with just a simple turn of the rotary knob. The new PEUGEOT LANDTREK 4X4 allows the driver to be at ease anywhere and in any weather, thanks to its optimized architecture, which provides:
