PETRONAS Malaysian Cub Prix Championship: Jempol Circuit – CP150. CP125 & Wira KBS.

Md Izzat Zaidi Md Salehan carved a winning moment for his team, PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing at round five of the PETRONAS Malaysian Cub Prix Championship, season 29 which was held at the Jempol Circuit.

The CP150 category rider who hails from Selangor made the fastest in the final race when he completed all 20 laps with a consistent pace throughout the race.

Izzat who took the pole position did not budge from his spot as he took lead, leaving his contenders trailing him throughout the race. He was seen composed and confident with his machine as he made his way through the laps.

In the last round, Izzat took the third spot overall. He showcased quite the skill and performance thus far for this season. He also took the second spot on the podium in round one of the season.

In the qualifying session yesterday, Izzat logged in second fastest at 44.310s and made the fastest mark during the Super Pole session. He logged in at 44.023s. For the final race, Izzat finished the race at 14’48:244s.

Commenting on the race, “I am so happy to have finally taken the top spot on the podium. In my opinion, the race went well. It was rather smooth. As for my performance, I owe it to Afif who has been assisting me throughout. I am grateful to him and my team for this win.”

The second spot was bagged by Azroy Anuar Hakeem of Honda Yuzy Idemitsu team who completed the race at 14’50:015s.

Third place belonged to Ahmad Afif Amran of PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing team. He finished at 14’51:180s.

For the CP125 category, Md Shafiq Rasol of ONEXOX TKKR Racing took the lead in the Jempol circuit with his first win on the top spot.

Shafiq who started his race at the 2nd spot on the grid flaunted his talents when he leaped to P1 in the first lap. He then took the lead from then on and kept his pace consistently throughout the 15-lap race. Shafiq also managed to steer his wheels at an optimum speed throughout the race.

Although the race was highly competitive with excellent riders lining in for a chance at the lead position, Shafiq was not threatened. He completed the race, logging in at 11’48:421s. In the previous round, Shafiq took the fifth position which placed him at the second spot overall.

Commenting on the race, “Throughout the race, I tried my best to maintain my position with a consistent speed. I tried to avoid making mistakes and finally, took a win for my team.”

Second place went to Md Adib Rosley of YYPang Yamaha Racing team when he clocked in at 11’51:944s. This is his first win on the podium for this season.

At the third place, Md Hafiza Rofa of ONEXOX TKKR Racing made his way to the podium after completing the race at 11’54:706s.

Meanwhile, for the Wira KBS category, Md Danish Aiman Zamrul once again scored a win for his team, PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha – 31 Racing.

Danish began the race at 2nd grid but pulled a stunner at the last lap when he overtook his teammate, ending his race with a win.

In the second lap, Danish was overtaken by his teammate Md Syamil Amysar Md Iffende. However, Danish found the opportunity to get back in line in P2 at the seventh lap and immediately grabbed the opportunity.

Four laps from then on, Danish consistently trailed his other teammate Md Adam Haikal Jahar who took the pole position after the Shoot Out session. On the last lap, Danish found another opportunity to strike and took a shot at it, instantly replacing his teammate in P1. Danish clocked in at 9’36.357s.

Commenting on the race, “In the beginning, I made a mistake which allowed Syamil to overtake me. However, I managed to pick up pace and found the right space to take back my spot. It was a competitive ride. Adam was fast. I remained consistent throughout the race until I found the opportunity to slide in front of Adam.”

Adam, his teammate, took the second spot, logging in at 9’36:478s. Coming in third, out of the blues was Md Farish Iqmal Khayrul Elyas of Honda KC Racing, clocking in at 9’41:971s.
