MotoGP™ – Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) wins dramatic Austrian Grand Prix.

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) kept Ducati’s 100% Red Bull Ring record on Sunday at the myWorld Austrian Grand Prix, but that doesn’t even tell half the story. After a huge crash involving Johann Zarco (Esponsorama Racing) and Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) that brought out the red flags on Lap 9, the Championship tale took another crazy twist in a Spielberg epic. Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and Jack Miller (Pramac Racing) completed the podium, with Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) encountering problems that saw them finishing outside the top seven.

Miller got a wonderful launch from P2 and it was the Ducati rider who grabbed the holeshot, with Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) also getting away well to slot into P2 from pole position. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) was a fast starter from P4 with Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) dropping back. Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) chipped away and got himself to the front of the race, with Quartararo running off track at Turn 4 to drop to the back of the pack. Espargaro, Dovizioso, Mir, Miller and Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Tech3) were leaving the rest behind before an utterly terrifying crash unfolded into the 200mph Turn 3 braking zone, bringing out the red flags.

Morbidelli and Zarco were side by side on the straight and as they got on the anchors into Turn 3, the duo came into contact and both went down. What unfolded next was both horrendously scary, but unbelievably lucky at the same time. Zarco and Morbidelli’s bikes careered towards Turn 4 at an unreal rate of knots. Both bikes hit the air-fence, thankfully slowing them down. But because of the speed the Ducati and Yamaha were travelling at, the bikes came barrelling over the fence and into the path of the riders that were coming into and out of Turn 4. Viñales and Valentino Rossi (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) were the two in the firing line and somehow, the Ducati and Yamaha bikes missed the two factory Yamaha riders. Morbidelli’s bike arrowed through the gap between Viñales and Rossi, missing the nine-time World Champion by a matter of inches, with Zarco’s bike narrowly avoiding Viñales.

Morbidelli and Zarco were both thankfully on their feet after one of the scariest incidents in MotoGP™ history. They both went to the medical centre for a check-up, and both were declared fit. Amazingly, everyone emerged unscathed.

So, after the riders had caught their breath and regathered their composures – and the marshals had done a terrific job of clearing the track and fixing the air-fence – the 20-lap restart was underway. Pol Espargaro was on pole as the starting grid was decided on countback to the previous completed lap, before the crash. And the KTM rider got a very good getaway but Miller came flying up the inside from P3, the Aussie ran wide but was able to use the drive down the long straight to hold his advantage.

Pol was through at T3 but Miller – who had gambled on a soft-soft tyre option – was trying to pull the pin from the off. The Australian took the lead at Turn 6 and immediately got the hammer down. Meanwhile, the opening lap on the restart was a horror show for Viñales who slipped to last place – a bike issue? No one was sure, with motogp.com pitlane reporter Simon Crafar confirming after the race that Viñales did have some sort of mechanical or electric issue on his YZR-M1. And what about Quartararo? Starting from the back of the grid, the Frenchman had started making up places but for the two Yamahas and top two in the Championship, this was now all about damaged limitation – P16 and P20 for the Quartararo and Viñales on Lap 1.

By Lap 3, Miller was nearly a second up the road from Pol Espargaro, Dovizioso, the two Suzukis and Oliveira. Mir and Alex Rins were looking very strong after making great starts on their GSX-RRs, and the duo – along with Dovizioso – were swarming Pol Espargaro. Lap 4 saw Miller’s lead creep up to over a second but on the next lap, Dovizioso set the fastest lap of the race. Just behind the Italian, Espargaro had his hands full with the two Suzukis. The trio were exchanging positions like there was no tomorrow and they were losing time on Dovizioso, with Rins eventually making a move stick and the 42 was off chasing Dovizioso.

On Lap 7, Rins set the fastest lap. Further back, Quartararo was P13 and Viñales was still out the points. On the next lap, Miller’s lead was down to just 0.4 as Dovizioso and Rins reeled in the Pramac Racing star, with Pol Espargaro, Mir and Oliveira now over a second off the podium scrap. Espargaro looked like he was getting impatient as a potential race win was slowly slipping from his grasp, a couple of mistakes crept in and on Lap 9, catastrophe struck for KTM at their home race. At Turn 4, Espargaro and Oliveira were both down. The aftermath showed Oliveira absolutely livid in the box as we await to hear what really happened between the two.

Back on track, Miller’s advantage was no more. Dovizioso and Rins were right on the tail of the GP20, with Mir clawing back the gap after the two KTMs crashed. At Turn 6, Rins was almost down as the front of his machine tucked, but the Spaniard saved it. Then, a change for the lead. Dovizioso carved past Miller into Turn 1 and at Turn 9 later in the lap, Rins followed the red Bologna bullet through. Rins really was on a charge but his race then prematurely ended at Turn 6. A repeat slip of the front tyre couldn’t be saved this time as Rins swept up the inside of Dovizioso, but 42 was out of the race and a four-way battle for the race win became a three-way battle. Dovizioso vs Miller vs Mir, with Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) over two seconds back in fourth as the South African produced another fine Sunday ride.

So, seven laps to go in Spielberg. Nothing between the leading three, Rossi and Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) were chasing Binder with Championship leaders Quartararo and Viñales 8th and 13th, Viñales was the fastest man on track too. With five laps to go, Dovi started edging clear of Miller and Mir as Miller started to look like he was struggling with his soft Michelin tyres. With four laps to go, Dovizioso had pulled 0.9 seconds clear as Miller held firm in second. Mir was climbing all over the back of the Desmosedici but the superior Ducati grunt allowed Miller to hold the sophomore off.

Coming onto the last lap, barring a mistake, the race was Dovi’s. But who would take second? Miller was scrapping away and defending as hard as he could to make it a Ducati 1-2 – and it looked like he was going to be able to do it. But, Miller thought Mir was closer to him heading into the penultimate Turn 9 and Miller’s defensive line took him wide on the exit. Mir used the normal, sweeping line – something the Suzuki is fantastic at – and Mir was through. Dovi took the chequered flag to claim his third Red Bull Ring victory, Mir secures his first MotoGP™ podium with Miller settling for third.

Binder, after qualifying 17th, finishes P4 at KTM’s home race on his first visit to the Red Bull Ring on a MotoGP™ machine. Another great ride for the South African. Fifth went the way of Rossi who came out after the scare of his life like nothing had happened – true testament to just how superhuman all these guys are. The Doctor finished as the lead Yamaha rider in Austria, with Nakagami picking up a solid P6 just behind as the leading Honda rider.

Danilo Petrucci (Ducati Team) crossed the line seventh to finish just 0.036 ahead of Quartararo. It was a great damaged limitation job done by the 21-year-old who salvages eighth, but it’s not the result he’d have been looking for. 1.5 seconds behind Quartararo was Iker Lecuona (Red Bull KTM Tech3) who secures his best premier class result in P9. A top job by the rookie who will have a significant boost of confidence heading into the Styrian GP next weekend.

Viñales also did well to recover to P10 after his issues in the restarted race. It’s not what either Viñales or Quartararo would have been looking for from the front row but considering what unfolded, it was the best they could do. Quartararo’s gap has been closed down to 11 points with Dovizioso overtaking Viñales in the Championship as the Frenchman and Spaniard will be hoping for better fortunes in seven days’ time.

Completing the points was Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini), Michele Pirro (Pramac Racing), Bradley Smith (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini), Repsol Honda Team’s Alex Marquez and Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda Castrol).

An unbelievable day. The riders will take a breather for the next four days before they attack the Red Bull Ring again for the Styrian GP as we get time to reflect on what unfolded before our eyes. Thankfully the riders escaped serious injury, and what more can we say about the 2020 title race… Bring on the Styrian GP.

Malaysian motorcycling history was made as 850 Roy Malaysian motorcycling history was made as 850 Royal Enfield motorcycles came together for the largest Royal Enfield gathering in Malaysia to date, officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records. 

The record-setting event took place at the iconic Sepang International Circuit, where riders
from every state in Peninsular Malaysia converged in a powerful show of unity, passion, and
camaraderie. The sight of hundreds of Royal Enfield motorcycles filling the circuit was a sight
to behold, marking a defining moment for the local riding community.
Organised by Didi Group, the gathering featured motorcycles from every Royal Enfield model
line-up, spanning classics such as the Bullet and Classic 350 to the Interceptor 650, Continental
GT, Himalayan, and Super Meteor 650. Many riders travelled long distances to be part of the
historic occasion.
The milestone was achieved through a Parade Ride and mass gathering, giving riders the
opportunity to celebrate not just a record, but the shared spirit and brotherhood that defines
the Royal Enfield community in Malaysia.

VIOS CHALLENGE ROUND 4: RM300,000 ON THE LINE AND VIOS CHALLENGE ROUND 4: RM300,000 ON THE LINE AND THREE CHAMPIONS IN WAITING AT
SEASON 8 FINALE OF THE VIOS CHALLENGE 

The 4th and final round of
the Vios Challenge (Season 8) will see a combined total of RM300,000 on the line as racers compete for
the honor of becoming the overall champion in the professional Super Sporting and amateur Sporting
Classes. The weekend which promises nothing short of an exhilarating race from start to finish will also
see the crowning of a new Rookie champion and the inaugural running of the New Vios Classic Challenge
– a race dedicated to previous generations of the Vios Challenge race cars.
The battleground for the final two races of Season 8 will take place on the more technical, tactical and
challenging South Track at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit on Friday, 9 Jan 2026 and Saturday,
10 Jan 2026. The South Track measures 2.609km featuring eight corners and an extended long straight.
It will also be the first time the Vios Challenge will be run on this part of the circuit, levelling the odds for
all racers.

Malaysia’s Kegani Racing Academy (KRA) today off Malaysia’s Kegani Racing Academy (KRA) today officially launched the 2026 SKILLDRVN Swift Professional Series with the first ever driver draft being held in Malaysia to select drivers for the participating teams.

The Professional Series is a national status championship and a step up from the already-successful SKILLDRVN One Make Race (OMR) Series which was started in 2023 as a gateway to develop young and new racers. 

Kegani Racing Academy is also proud to crown Loke Yin Yee as the very first double overall champion of the SKILLDRVN One Make Race (OMR) Series. Loke had first won the title in 2024.

The runner-up for 2025 is Andy Boey while in third place overall is car #390 Vox Lim. Boey, 34, was also the overall winner in 2023.

Malaysia secured four awards at Asia Harley Days (AHD) 2025, held on 21 – 22 November at Midwinter, Khao Yai, Thailand.

The Outstanding Riding Achievement - Unique Record award was presented to Dato’ Anand and K.V.R. Sanjevee for achieving the highest ride on Umling La Pass using a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.

Malaysia also received the Best H-D Community Event award for Desaru International Bike Week. The event was selected from community events across Asia's Emerging Markets.

In the H-D Custom Kings Asia - King of the Kings category, David Harrison won with his customized Electra Glide Highway King named “El Patron.” He was one of the wild card finalists and then represented Malaysia in the regional finals in Thailand.

 The fourth award, Largest Contingent to AHD, was presented to HRB Motorcycle Club Malaysia, which achieved the highest participation among the Asia Emerging Markets outside of Thailand.

These four recognitions highlight Malaysia’s outstanding performance at the event, making it the country with the most awards won in a single night among Harley-Davidson’s Asia Emerging Markets, which include the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Malaysian racing talent Naquib Azlan, 25, is set t Malaysian racing talent Naquib Azlan, 25, is set to swap real-world circuits for virtual competition as he heads to the Ferrari HP Esports Series Grand Final, taking place on 3 December at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
 
Naquib is one of only two drivers from the Southeast Asian region to qualify for the Grand Final, earning his place after a rigorous competition process that began in June this year.

“I’m truly honoured to represent Malaysia on such a prestigious global stage. Sim racing has always been a core part of my development as a driver, and to now compete in the Ferrari HP Esports Grand Final is an incredible opportunity. The level of competition will be incredibly high, but I believe in the preparation we’ve put in. 5th edition of the Vios Enduro Cup at Sepang 1000k 5th edition of the Vios Enduro Cup at Sepang 1000km Endurance Race unfolded into one of the most dramatic and nail-biting runs to the chequered flag which would only be decided at the very final corner. 

This year’s Vios Enduro Cup brought together all three generations of the Vios Challenge race cars in a rare long-format endurance battle far beyond their traditional sprint race roots. A total of 13 cars and 38 drivers battled across 1,000km in the adrenaline-charged 8-hour Vios Enduro Cup. It also saw strong participation from within the TGR ecosystem, with 10 of the 38 drivers coming directly from the Vios Challenge 2025 one-make race, showcasing the growing depth and competitiveness of local talent.

Malaysian motorcycling history was made as 850 Royal Enfield motorcycles came together for the largest Royal Enfield gathering in Malaysia to date, officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records. The record-setting event took place at the iconic Sepang International Circuit, where ridersfrom every state in Peninsular Malaysia converged in a powerful show of unity, passion, andcamaraderie.
