The drivers faced a formidable challenge in the heavy wet conditions
during MCS Round 2 Race 1 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) today. They had to push
their mental and physical strength to the limit to reach the finish line.
The race was marred by numerous accidents on the track, leading to the raising of red flags.
The unprecedented weather made it extremely difficult for the drivers to maintain control
and grip, resulting in 12 cars retiring from the race. As soon as the pit window opened
between 1:10pm and 1:25pm, all cars returned to the pits.
The race then resumed at 2:11pm after briefing sessions between the drivers and officials at
the Media Centre. The agreement allowed for the continuation of the race actions.
Imran Wafi and his partner, Lee Kum Soon, driving the Honda FD2R #29, were the only team
in the Touring Production (TP) category to complete the race. They achieved their best lap
time of 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 30 seconds. The drivers commented, “Surprisingly, we won
even though we drove like it was a Sunday drive. The race was fun, and we got lucky. This was
our first wet race in TP, and we’ll give our best in tomorrow’s battle, or else we’ll simply enjoy
Race 2.”
In the Malaysian Touring Car (MTC) category, Haydan Haikal from Wing Hin Motorsports
emerged as the winner. Hirev Dream Chaser secured the second and third spots. Mitchell
Cheah and his partner, Rahul Mayer, finished 23 seconds behind the leader in second place,
while Lee Wai Cong and his partner, Bradley Benedict Anthony, trailed Mitchell by 59 seconds,
securing third place.
R Engineering claimed victory in the Stock Production 1 (SP1) category, with a first, second
and third place finish. Farriz Fauzy took first place, followed by Jesmond Tan as the runner-
up. Aiman Sadat, a newcomer from Bangladesh, surprised everyone with a third-place finish
in his first race.
The Bae Racing Team secured two podium finishes in the Stock Production 2G (SP2G)
category. Ameer Harris finished in first place, while the duo of Timothy Thomas Yeo and Aun
Yue Wei claimed the third-place spot. Sixteen-year-old Adam Mikail Mazrul from R
Engineering also finished the race as a co-winner.
Muhammad Hasif from Empire M Racing emerged victorious in the Stock Production 2V
(SP2V) category. The Singaporean privateer team, Soh Chee Chong and Khairul Anwar secured
second place, followed by Shafiq Samsudin and Ahmad Nadzrie from Piston Project by Pulzar
