Refined Raw, the tag line for the 2017 Kawasaki Z900 ABS. Design wise in comparison with the Z800, there are obvious changes not only to the front but also a more refined Z streamline to the overall body. So, does the Z900 ABS live up to its tag line in terms of power and handling?
On this pre-test review, I had the opportunity to take the Z900 ABS out on a “controlled” ride with full escort from 2 Malaysian police outriders and 3 road marshals courtesy from Kawasaki Motors Malaysia.
I am really impressed the moment I lifted the Z900 ABS off the side stand. The light weight of the bike is immediately felt and the handle bar has been made wider than the Z800. The smoothness of the gear change and the light clutch have always been a signature on all Kawasaki models and with this Z900 ABS, it has been further refined.
Power is raw and the acceleration from low end to high gears leaves not a slightest doubt on the potential and the vast improvement that Kawasaki has made on the 2017 Z900 ABS.
According to Dato’ Jeffrey Lim, General manager & Director of Kawasaki Motors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the Z900 ABS is selling at RM49, 158.00 inclusive of GST for standard version which is only RM1, 400.00 above its predecessor, the Z800. The Kawasaki Z900 ABS Special Edition (SE) comes with 9 accessories, namely a taller front tinted screen, a rear seat cover, a DC outlet, Radiator cover, engine slider, engine cover, front axle slider, tank and knee pads. The SE model is selling at RM50, 959.00 inclusive of GST. This bundled package is only RM1, 800.00 more than the standard version, adds, Dato Jeffrey.
