HONG LEONG YAMAHA MOTOR INTRODUCES THE NEW YAMAHA NVX WITH MOBILE PHONE CONNECTIVITY.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor today proudly unveiled the second of many Yamaha models to be introduced to Malaysian riders this year. This exciting NVX model was launched virtually and is now available in both Standard and ABS options.

Digital transformation is driving change in all that we do, even in how we experience our rides, and the Yamaha NVX combines both engineering precision and digital technology to enable our riders to experience a hyperconnected and seamless riding experience, said Dato’ Jim Khor, Group Managing Director of Hong Leong Industries earlier today.

The New NVX is the first Yamaha model in Malaysia that features the Y–Connect app, allowing riders to pair their smartphones with their Yamaha NVX for useful and up-to-date information. Once downloaded, the Y-Connect app provides the riders with information such as engine oil and battery health checks, fuel consumption, service reminders, identifying the last location where their bike was parked and a world ranking for fuel efficiency performance. Many useful special features make this performance-oriented automatic the perfect new riding machine for the young- at-heart.

At the core of the new Yamaha NVX is the new 155cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder Yamaha Blue Core engine with VVA (variable valve actuation) capable of producing higher power of 15.4PS at 8,000 rpm and 13.9Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm compared to its predecessor. The new Yamaha NVX comes with a new fully digital LCD instrument panel compatible with Yamaha’s Y-Connect smartphone app, with the addition of missed calls and messages received notifications.

Its new LED headlight and pilot lights are featured on the twin headlamp assembly with its intensity and orientation optimized to make the new NVX truly eye-catching, plus giving the riders excellent visibility especially when riding at night. The new NVX’s tail/brake lights consist of 12 compact and densely- placed LEDs that give it a three-dimensional appearance to emphasis the machine’s good looks while a 12v DC outlet is also provided to facilitate the charging of digital devices on-the-go anytime, anywhere.

Fuel is now carried in a new bigger 5.5-litre tank compared to 4.6-litre in the previous generation. Together with its highly fuel-efficient engine, the new NVX is now capable of covering approximately a 200km range with a full tank. Yamaha’s Stop & Start system comes standard on the ABS model and this system automatically shuts the engine off when the bike is stopped or idling at traffic lights to further improve its fuel efficiency.

At the front, an aerodynamic full fairing look is set with the new side covers designed to improve comfort while also presenting a slimmer, more compact view from the rear. Keyless start via the Smart key is available but only on the ABS model. Rear suspension with sub tank (also on the ABS model only) improves comfort and stability on uneven roads and provides a consistent damping performance. Its front brake ABS system provides superior stopping power with its 230mm front disc.

The new Yamaha NVX is exclusively priced at a recommended retail price of RM 8,998 for the Standard units and a recommended retail price of RM 10,998 for the ABS version, both prices excluding insurance & registration fees. The Standard version comes in a choice of Red and Cyan, while the ABS models are available in Platinum SE and GP Blue. The paintwork for the ABS models is specially processed from high quality aluminum and premium resins for the in- between metallic and matte finish, the first for any Yamaha motorcycle in Malaysia. In addition, every new owner of the NVX models will receive a safety disc lock with their purchase.

The new Yamaha NVX will be available at all authorized Yamaha dealers throughout Malaysia beginning May 2021 onwards.
