HARLEY-DAVIDSON AND PDRM COLLABORATE ON THREE-MOTORCYCLE PROOF OF CONCEPT (POC) PROGRAMME

Route 77 Harley-Davidson of Kuala Lumpur today hosted a motorcycle handover ceremony in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), involving three Harley-Davidson motorcycles provided to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) specifically for a Proof of Concept (POC) evaluation.

The ceremony, held at Route 77 Harley-Davidson of Kuala Lumpur, saw the three motorcycles handed over to PDRM/JSPT by representatives of Route 77 Harley-Davidson of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Omar Ali Abdullah, Mr Larry Yap Eng Keong and Mr Juan Chow Wee.

The three motorcycles provided for the POC evaluation are Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST, Harley-Davidson Street Glide and Harley-Davidson Pan America.

The three models represent different Harley-Davidson motorcycle platforms and will enable JSPT to assess their suitability, performance, handling, manoeuvrability and practicality against the department’s operational requirements, particularly in relation to escort and official duties.

The motorcycles are being provided solely for the purpose of the POC evaluation, allowing JSPT personnel to gain practical experience with the different platforms and assess their respective characteristics in an operational environment.

Coinciding with the POC evaluation period, Le Tour de Langkawi (LTDL) 2026 provides JSPT with an appropriate opportunity to evaluate the motorcycles in a real-world environment involving sustained riding, varying road conditions and operational requirements associated with a major international sporting event.

The use of the motorcycles during LTDL 2026 forms part of the POC evaluation process and does not constitute permanent deployment or adoption of the motorcycles by PDRM.

The initiative reflects cooperation between the private sector and PDRM in facilitating the evaluation of motorcycle platforms and technologies that may support the evolving operational requirements of traffic policing and escort duties.

Director of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), said: “This Proof of Concept provides JSPT with an opportunity to evaluate three different motorcycle platforms in a practical environment. Each model has different characteristics and capabilities, and our focus is to objectively assess their performance, handling, practicality and suitability against JSPT’s operational requirements.

With Le Tour de Langkawi taking place during the evaluation period, the event provides a useful real-world environment for our personnel to assess the motorcycles under actual riding and operational conditions. The findings from the POC will subsequently enable JSPT to make an objective assessment based on our operational needs.”

The POC is an evaluation exercise only and does not constitute an endorsement, procurement commitment or indication of future acquisition by PDRM. Any future consideration would remain subject to PDRM’s established evaluation, approval and applicable procurement procedures.
