The Ducati Multistrada V4 & V4S comes with a “Base” and a ‘S’ unit. Both units not only come with revamped design but also a multitude of technologies that make ridding safe and fun. The V4 is priced at RM135,900 while the V4S is at RM146,900.
Some of the interesting features in the new Multistrada V4S are the onboard radar and blind spot detection system. Also, the Bosch develop adaptive cruise control that takes the strain off the rider’s right hand when cruising along boring straight highways.
The semi active Skyhook suspension system is available for the V4S, and the S Sport models. The Skyhook is an amazing suspension system that makes any ride predictable and smoother, thus giving the rider a better feel and control over the bike regardless the riding mode and road condition.
Moving to the ridding aids, the Multistrada is equipped with impressive standard core electronics which are: Cornering ABS, wheelie control, traction control, cornering lights and four riding modes – Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro.
Once you are straddled behind the handlebar, the first thing that will catch your attention is the 6.5-inch TFT LCD (5- inch on the base) display unit. The upgraded electronics include quick shifter, cornering headlights, hill hold, anti-weave control and keyless ignition. The brakes are also upgraded (Brembo Stylema).
Now this is the fun part. The power source comes from Ducati V4 Granturismo, churning out 170 hp at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm of torque at 8,750 rpm. Fuel is stored in a 22-litre tank. The seat height now comes with adjustable options, which is between 840mm to 860mm.
My 2-cents:
The Multistrada is a more capable off-roader than before and much more comfortable while touring. As for daily commute, it is quite versatile manoeuvring around vehicles during peak traffic hour especially without the side panniers.
Acceleration and torque are just awesome, and the bike is well-planted too during high speed. The front and rear radar detection and Blind Spot Detection, which activate during Cruise Control, work hand in hand just in case you overlooked any dangerous surrounding while having fun. Bottom line is, this bike is well worth considering when going up against the GS or GSA.
