The coveted BYD electric mobility experience is now more accessible than ever to Malaysians across all key regions. BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD cars in Malaysia, shifts into high gear by rapidly expanding its premium retail and aftersales network, with a domestic footprint of over 40 showrooms nationwide. In tandem, BYD is on track to have 34 aftersales touchpoints in 2026 upon the completion of 9 new service centres.

Extending its presence beyond the urban centres to cater to customers’ needs more effectively, in the south, BYD has expanded into Johor’s growing secondary cities with the opening of BYD Muar and BYD Kluang, while on the East Coast, BYD Kuala Terengganu is newly set up primed to leverage the rising demand for electric vehicles in the state in addition to BYD Kuantan and BYD Kota Bahru.

The northern region saw strong expansion with BYD Sungai Petani, BYD Juru and the BYD Ipoh 3S Centre enhancing both sales and aftersales accessibility. The Ipoh facility features the city’s first dedicated EV charging hub equipped with 240kWh and 180kWh DC chargers, offering customers added convenience and reliability.

In the central region, the BYD Sri Hartamas 3S Centre which is located within a shopping mall, integrates sales, service and spare parts under one roof to allow customers to seamlessly incorporate vehicle ownership into their daily routine.

Completing BYD’s expansive network currently are 12 Body & Paint outlets, with more to come as testament to the significance the brand places on long-term ownership confidence and ecosystem in Malaysia.

As the nation’s No.1 battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand for 3 consecutive years, this strategic growth reflects rising consumer trust both in BYD and electric mobility.

In 2025 alone, BYD delivered 14,407 vehicles, a 68% increase compared with 2024. The brand acquired its first 10,000 customers in 20 months and secured the next 10,000 in just 13 months. BYD rose from a Top 10 car brand in 2024 to become Malaysia’s 6th best-selling brand overall in 2025 and the No.4 non-national brand. The company is on track to reach 30,000 Malaysian customers by April 2026.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, said, “These milestones reflect the strong partnership between BYD and Sime Motors, as well as our shared commitment to raising the standards of EV ownership in Malaysia. A comprehensive network allows BYD to provide robust support throughout the ownership lifecycle as well as greater resale confidence. Each of our newest outlets are designed to deliver a more refined showroom experience, reflecting BYD’s promise to combine advanced technology with a premium, customer-centric environment.”

He added, “As the nation’s leading BEV brand, our focus is clear as we move forward. We will prioritise the needs of Malaysians as we continue to grow our nationwide network and strengthen every customer touchpoint. We are also grateful for the trust of our BYD community and remain firm in supporting them with ever increasing convenience, confidence and care.”

In line with more showroom openings in 2026, BYD Sime Motors will launch BYD Mansion in Macalister, Penang, a flagship outlet that will feature the integration of local cultural elements into its design philosophy, creating a premium, unique space. The new design will subsequently be replicated across other showrooms as the company believes every customer touchpoint should reflect both the BYD corporate identity and the communities it serves.

Commenting on the brand’s remarkable journey, Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia, Sime Motors, noted that the pace of EV adoption demonstrates Malaysians are embracing sustainable driving faster than ever. He said, “Despite operating in an increasingly competitive market, we have proven our capability and resilience. This year presents a fresh opportunity to further strengthen BYD’s nationwide presence with the focus on providing a more premium and elevated customer experience and delivering intelligent, zero-emission mobility solutions. We believe this is fundamental to spurring greater EV adoption in Malaysia.”

BYD’s continued investment in aftersales infrastructure directly addresses customer concerns about maintenance and downtime. Ensuring owners have peace of mind, support is provided by a pool of 80 EV-certified technicians trained at the BYD Academy, alongside a centralised parts warehouse that ensures efficient parts availability. For customers, this means shorter waiting time and more service transparency coupled with the assurance that their vehicles are in expert hands.

With its emphasis on network growth, charging accessibility, technical capability and premium retail environments, BYD Sime Motors is building the infrastructure and service ecosystem required to support the next phase of EV adoption in Malaysia, giving potential buyers the certainty they need to make the transition to electric mobility.

At Belgium’s Spa Francorchamps circuit, Malaysia At Belgium’s Spa Francorchamps circuit, Malaysia’s Viper Niza Racing Team secured 4th in the #GT3-AM Class and 7th overall in Round 2 of the Michelin 24H Series. The result lifts them to joint 1st in the GT3-AM standings (56 points) alongside Hofor Racing and HAAS RT, keeping them firmly in the championship fight with three rounds remaining.

Driven by Douglas Khoo, Dominic Ang, and Aaron Lim in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, the team staged a strong comeback from 15th on the grid. They climbed steadily through the field, reaching as high as 6th overall before finishing 7th after 239 laps, missing the class podium by just two laps.

Despite falling short of a third consecutive podium at Spa, the team delivered a clean and competitive performance in a field dominated by McLaren, Audi, and Porsche entries. With valuable points secured and consistent pace shown across both race segments, Viper Niza Racing remains well-positioned as the championship heads into its final three rounds.
