The New BMW R 18 Classic – soulfuel for the journey ahead.
The Classic variant echoes the distinctive characteristics of the BMW R 18, now touring-oriented for a more enjoyable long-distance riding experience.
The New BMW R 18 Classic features an eye-catching streamlined silhouette with a style that is equally captivating. Available in Black Storm Metallic, the variant is fitted with the same iconic tear-shaped fuel tank, chrome-plated header, and the pin-stripe details as seen on the BMW R 18 First Edition.
The new variant illuminates the road ahead with additional LED fog lights and LED headlight, while offering a removable passenger seat for the perfect riding companion. A large windshield also comes as standard, along with a 16-inch front wheel featuring wire-spoke wheels. In the rear are the LED taillight and round stainless-steel exhaust pipes.
The biggest displacement boxer engine BMW has ever built also sits at the heart of the New BMW R 18 Classic. The newly-developed two-cylinder four-stroke boxer engine with two chain-driven camshafts placed above the drive shaft bears a capacity of 1,802 cc capable of 91 hp, a maximum torque of 158 Nm at 3000 rpm and maximum speed of 180km/h. Also known as the “Big Boxer”, the boxer engine is air/oil-cooled.
Fuel consumption of the new variant remains at 5.6 litres per 100km of travel. Emission control is offered via a regulated three-way catalytic converter. The alternator in the new variant is also a 600W permanent magnet generator paired with a maintenance-free 12 V/26 Ah battery.
Power is transmitted to the new variant via an anti-hopping clutch with a six-speed helical-toothed transmission. The secondary open, nickel-plated driveshaft, meanwhile, puts focus on the torque. The centrepiece of the suspension is the double-loop steel tube frame, that is complemented by a telescopic fork with fork sleeves, and a directly mounted central suspension strut with travel-dependent damping and adjustable spring preload. A steering stabiliser is also available as standard.
A 300mm twin disk brake with four-piston fixed callipers in front is also standard to the variant, with single disk brakes in the rear. Echoing the BMW R 18 First Edition, the new variant also features the BMW Motorrad Integral Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and the Automatic Stability Control (ASC), along with three riding modes: Rock, Roll and Rain. The new variant is also equipped with engine drag torque control (MSR), Dynamic Brake Control, and the electronic cruise control as standard.

As with other BMW Motorrad models, the Keyless Ride system also replaces the conventional ignition in the new variant.
