BMW Motorrad Malaysia Introduces the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, alongside their ‘40 Years GS’ Editions.

BMW Motorrad Malaysia today introduced the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure – both offering innovative performance with an impressive range of equipment to match.

The new BMW GS models set the benchmark yet higher in delivering distinctive, powerful, and reliable propulsion. The dual sport bikes are equipped with a two-cylinder boxer engine made legendary by its predecessors, which ensures a superior and cultivated ride that is enhanced further by numerous new features. Even more so than before, the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure make for the perfect companion for adventuring both on and off the beaten track.

The unmistakeable presence of the new models is highlighted with X-shaped light icons on the new headlights, visible with side light switched on. Complementing this are the LED daytime running light, cruising light, chrome exhaust system, cross spoke wheels, along with the multifunctional rear indicator lights – all of which are now standard. Exclusive to the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure are the auxiliary headlights and suitcase holder preparation for aluminium panniers and top box.

Functionally, the new models also come equipped with newly developed adaptive headlights with a swivel function, allowing the low-beam of the full-LED headlights to adjust according to the curves of the road depending on inclined position. By swivelling the light pattern, a particularly wide and homogenous illumination of the road is achieved – harmoniously adapting to the respective inclined position.

Powering the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure is the legendary two-cylinder boxer engine with a displacement of 1,254 cm³. With a capacity of 136 hp (100 kW) at 7,750 rpm and maximum torque of 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm – it is, to date, the most powerful BMW boxer engine in series production. Featuring the BMW ShiftCam technology, which allows for varying valve control timing and valve lift on the intake side, the engine provides superior power across the entire speed range while remaining extremely smooth and quiet when running. The results are a particularly effective combustion and thus, fuel utilisation.

Transmission and coupling for the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure are integrated into the engine housing of the boxer engine, resulting in greater weight balance in a space- and weight-saving design. An anti-hopping mechanism is also implemented in the clutch system, tuned to the requirements of sporty, ambitious riders. Also included is the BMW Gear Shift Assistant Pro. Another standard safety equipment is the Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), which ensures a high level of safety even in inclined positions.

While ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ riding modes are adapted to most conditions, a new ‘Pro’ riding mode adds the Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, Enduro and Enduro Pro riding modes as standard, each with their individualisation options that can be catered to the rider’s needs. Part of the ‘Pro’ riding mode is the dynamic engine brake control. This further allows the rider additional room to avoid unstable riding conditions, which can occur when coasting or overrunning, or when excessive brake slip occurs at the rear wheel during downshifting.

Additionally, the electronic cruise control equips the new models to offer convenience for long-distance riding. Greater fuel efficiency is also achieved via the ‘Eco’ riding mode, which is now also available as standard.

With the inclusion of the BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment), damping is automatically adapted not only to road conditions, but also to riding manoeuvres undertaken. The result is higher safety, performance and comfort, achieved through automatic compensation of riding position. The new BMW Integral ABS Pro also comes as standard – optimised for both on and off the road, while also adapted to the various riding modes. Higher braking stability and safety is ensured even in inclined positions.

Connectivity for the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure comes in the form of a multifunctional instrument cluster with 6.5-inch full-colour TFT display, which can be used in combination with integrated operation via the standard BMW Motorrad multi-controller to quickly access vehicle and connectivity functions. Media playback and telephone functions are made conveniently accessible to ensure focus on the road, while navigation provides an added convenience in handling traffic conditions without additional navigational equipment.

Vehicle-integrated connectivity is offered via the BMW Motorrad Connected app, complemented by a 12 V on-board socket and a 5 V USB-A socket – enabling quick charging while riding. For added convenience, the Keyless Ride feature is also included as standard.

In celebration of 40 years of GS history, both the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure are available in the unique ‘40 Years GS’ Edition. Inspired by the BMW R 100 GS, the ‘40 Years GS’ Edition features a striking combination of Blackstorm Metallic and Yellow. Standard colour offering for both the New BMW R 1250 GS and the New R 1250 GS Adventure includes the Triple Black Style and Rallye Style.

The New BMW R 1250 GS, the New BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, and their ‘40 Years GS’ Editions will be available at all authorised BMW Motorrad dealerships nationwide starting 20^th August 2021. All authorised BMW dealerships are now open for physical viewing, with strict adherence to the safety operating procedures recommended by the Ministry of Health.
