BMW Malaysia today introduces an updated iteration of the highly-celebrated BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport. The visionary all electric business sedan that made its electrifying introduction to the Malaysian market in late 2023 now arrives with enhanced charging capabilities and more streamlined functionality that perfectly complements the unparalleled dynamism of the BMW 5 Series.

The newest iteration of the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport arrives as an icon in modern sedan design and innovation, with enhanced technological features, strengthening the standards for electrified mobility in the local market. While maintaining the elegance and dynamic performance of the world’s most iconic business sedan, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport now boasts augmented charging proficiency, and simplified proportions that represent a harmonious fusion of sophistication and sportiness in equal measure.

The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport now comes equipped with the AC Charging Professional as standard, presenting exceptional improvements to the vehicle’s charging proficiency that befits an exclusive sedan. This new feature allows for significantly reduced charging times, whether at home or public AC chargers, with the newly equipped 22 kW charging capabilities. This results in a more efficient and convenient charging experience, with a 0-100% charge now achievable in under 4 hours and 15 minutes. BMW i5 owners can also experience charging access at more than 1,700 charging stations nationwide, facilitated through BMW Malaysia’s partnerships with leading local EV charging providers. Collaborations with ChargeEV and Yinson GreenTech alone grant access to over 400 charging stations, while partnerships with JomCharge, Gentari, ChargeN’Go, ChargeSini, Go To-U, and FlexiParking contribute approximately 160 more facilities throughout the country. These strategic partnerships not only strengthen the future of mobility in Malaysia but also guarantee that every facet of the Premium Electric Ownership Experience seamlessly adapts to the evolving landscape of Electric Mobility.
The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport retains its impressive maximum output of 250 kW/340 hp, coupled with an exceptional electric range of up to 582 km (WLTP). The EV also continues to host its high-voltage battery situated in the underbody, which boasts an optimal battery capacity of 83.9kWh, serving as the foundation for the premium sedan’s impressive range. Adding to its thrilling performance, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport harnesses a peak torque of 430Nm in Sport Boost, propelling from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 6.0 seconds and reaching a top speed of 193km/h.
