BMW Group AG appoints Raymond Tan Chor Ann as New Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.

Benjamin Nagel

Raymond Tan

BMW Group Malaysia yesterday announced the appointment of Raymond Tan Chor Ann as its new Managing Director, effective 1st September 2026. The appointment marks a homecoming for the accomplished Malaysian leader, whose career with the BMW Group spans key markets and strategic functions across the Asia-Pacific region and the company’s headquarters in Munich.

Raymond will assume the role from current Managing Director Benjamin Nagel, who will take on the position of Managing Director of BMW Group Importer Markets TW, HK, MC, with responsibility for the markets of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao.

In his new role, Raymond will lead BMW Group Malaysia’s operations and continue to strengthen the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands in the country. His focus will include delivering premium customer experiences, advancing premium mobility, and reinforcing BMW Group Malaysia’s ambition to be the Ultimate Choice in the premium segment through Technology Openness and the Power of Choice.

Raymond brings extensive international experience and a deep understanding of the Malaysian automotive market, having held several pivotal leadership roles within BMW Group Malaysia. As part of the pioneering team in 2003, he began as Product and Price Planning Manager, helping to shape product strategy and market positioning for Malaysia.

He later joined the BMW Group headquarters in Munich as Regional Product Manager, responsible for product planning and strategic market coordination across international markets. He subsequently returned to Malaysia as Head of Marketing, leading brand and customer engagement initiatives, before progressing to Head of Sales, where he oversaw nationwide sales operations and network performance.

Commenting on his appointment, Raymond Tan said, “I am excited to return to Malaysia to lead the National Sales Company as the first local Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, particularly at this pivotal moment as the BMW Group prepares for a new era with the upcoming introduction of the Neue Klasse range of models. My priorities will be to further develop the business, professionalise the retail network, strengthen customer loyalty, and to continue positioning the BMW Group as the premium brand of choice in Malaysia.”

Benjamin Nagel, meanwhile, takes on his new role after more than two decades of international leadership experience within the BMW Group, having held senior management positions across Germany, India, South Africa, Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. His career spans sales, distribution, retail operations, dealer network development and market strategy across diverse and competitive markets.

His notable achievement at BMW Group Malaysia was driving the premium automaker through a period of transformation and evolving market conditions, making BMW Group Malaysia the Ultimate Choice in the premium segment with the organisation’s focus on Technology Openness and The Power of Choice. His leadership journey from Germany to India, South Africa, Malaysia and now Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao reflect broad international market experience and continued strategic progression within the BMW Group.

His tenure in Malaysia also represented an important chapter in this journey, marked by a strong focus on customers, dealer partners, employees and stakeholders, as well as key priorities including electrification, digitalisation, customer experience and network development. These initiatives will remain on track as BMW Group Malaysia enters its next phase of leadership.

Commenting on his new appointment, Benjamin Nagel said, “I am honoured and excited to take on this new opportunity with the BMW Group to oversee the Importer Markets of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. Having had the privilege of leading BMW Group Malaysia, I look forward to bringing the insights and experience gained in Malaysia to these dynamic importer markets, while continuing to strengthen customer focus and premium brand positioning. My priority will be to drive sustainable growth, deepen long-term relationships with customers, business partners and employees, and build on the strong foundations established across the region.”

Ritu Chandy, Senior Vice President of Sales Region Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at the BMW Group, said, “I am pleased to announce Raymond Tan, a distinguished Malaysian talent, as the new leader of BMW Group Malaysia. Raymond brings extensive international experience across strategic portfolios within the BMW Group, together with a deep understanding of the region and a proven track record across key markets. These strengths will be instrumental in steering BMW Group Malaysia into its next phase of growth. At the same time, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Benjamin Nagel for his leadership and valuable contributions to BMW Group Malaysia, and wish him continued success in his new role as Managing Director of BMW Group Importer Markets TW, HK, MC.”

“This is a strong result to kickstart the season but the development process continues and both drivers acknowledge that the challenges ahead will get tougher.”

Wing Hin Motorsports’ Driver Development Program received a huge boost when two of its drivers finished the opening round of the Japanese Toyota GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Clubman Series in 2nd and 6th positions at Autopolis Circuit.

Malaysia’s Mitchell Cheah got off to a dream start in his racing debut in Japan when he powered the Wing Hin Motorsports GR86 to a hard-fought 2nd place.

The 2026 Toyota GAZOO Racing GR86/BRZ Cup will be run over seven rounds. From the season-opener at Autopolis, the Series moves to Round 2 from 16-17 May at Sportsland Sugo, followed by Round 3 from 27-28 June at Okayama International Circuit; and Round 4 from 8-9 August at the Tokachi Speedway. Wing Hin Motorsports had won the Series in its debut last year with Naquib Azlan and also clinched a 4th place overall with a second Malaysian driver Amer Harris.

The Malaysian pairing of Naquib Azlan and Amer Har The Malaysian pairing of Naquib Azlan and Amer Harris delivered a respectable result in their debut outing in the 2026 ENEOS Super Taikyu Series, finishing 7th in class and 11th overall from a 30-car grid in Round 1 at Mobility Resort Motegi.

Piloting the Wing Hin Motorsports #338 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, the duo—alongside experienced Japanese Super Taikyu driver Shuji Maeshima—finished two laps behind the winning Audi R8 LMS GT4. Despite the result, the team showed consistent and competitive pace throughout the 4-hour race, running within one second of the frontrunners. They had qualified 7th in class and started 14th overall on the grid.

“Considering we are a new team on the grid, the result is encouraging. We started the season in the midfield of the ST-Z class rather than at the back, and also placed well in the overall standings. We’re confident we have the right drivers and the right package. As with anything new, progress will come with hard work and experience,” said Wing Hin Motorsports Team Principal William Loh.
