Race 2 of the final round of the Asian Le Mans Sprint cup got a perfectly hot weather to start off the race with pole sitter and points leader PRT Racing team got off to a good start. They were followed closely behind by DC Racing, Wineurasia, Aylezo, Nexus Infinity and PS Racing in the LMP3 class, while PS Racing in a Ligier JS 53, who is the sole contender in the CN class quickly made ground in the early stage of the race. In the GT Cup, team NZ in a Porsche GT3 made up for a DNS in the second qualifying by moving quickly up to the top spot.
By lap 9 of this 60 minutes race, #67 PRT racing in their Ginetta LMP3 were leading by over 20 seconds from second place DC Racing and over 45 seconds fromWineurasia. Most of the teams came in for a pit stop and driver change by lap 12. The running order were pretty much the same but the gaps between each teams were closer.
In lap 17, PRT Racing came into the pit apparently having some mechanical issues. The team could not solve the problems and it was indeed a devastating end of what seems like a good race for them. DC Racing team in a Ligier JSP3 took over the lead and never looked back. Wineurasia also in a Ligier JSP3 took second and newcomer Team Aylezo from Malaysia took third.
Well done once again to PS Racing in the CN class who came in fourth overall ahead of the LMP3 of Nexus Infinity .
In the GT Cup, it was a sad end to the race for Team Lotus HK as their car went off at turn 8 in lap 18 and could not continue the race. Team NZ lead the race after starting from the end of the group to the chequered.
Currently leading the points tables before these round 5 & 6, in LMP3 are Charlie Robertson and Ate de Jong, along with the # 67 PRT Ginetta LMP3, with 73 points in the drivers and team tables. This is 9 points ahead of James Winslow and the #1 DC Racing Ligier JSP3. Third are Garnet Patterson and Adrian D’Silva with the #27 Nexus infinity ADESS 03, standing at 51 points.
