The GT and GT cup were the first to go out for qualifying today in the final round of Asian Le Mans Series held in Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
GT cup only entries, No. 77 Team NZ, pilot by Graeme Dowsett, John Curran and Will Bamber and Car No. 96 of Team TKS with an all Japanese drivers comprising Shinyo Sano, Takuma Aoki and Shigeto Nagashima are fighting for the title in this final round. Both teams have 26 points each and both drives a Porsche 911 GT3.
At the end of qualifying, it was Team TKS that took pole with a time of 2:12.071 ahead of Team NZ doing a time of 2:12.287.
In the GT class, Team DH Racing No. 3 Ferrari 488 GT-3 with Alex Riberas in it took pole with a time of 2:02.375 ahead of Team BBT in another Ferrari 488 GT-3 narrowly taking the pole with a time of 2:02.379. Team Audi Korea with former F1 driver Alex Yoong behind the wheel took the his team to Third with a time of 2:02.540.
In the LMP2 Class, Andrea Pizzitola of Team Algarve Pro Racing took his team’s No. 25 Ligier JSP2 Nissan to pole position with a time of 1:55.279. Coming in really close for the Second spot of the grid for tomorrow’s race is Team Jackie Chan DC Racing with Ho-Pin Tung driving an Oreca 03R Nissan completing the session with his best time of 1:55.287. Third place on the grid goes to Race Performance Team in an Oreca 03R Judd No. 8 driven by Struan Moore.
In the LMP3 Class, Nigel Moore of Team Tockwith Motorsports driving a Ligier JSP3 No. 26 took Pole with a time of 1:59.345. Team Wineurasia with Scott Andrews piloting his No.99 Ligier JSP3 took Second with a time of 1:59.478. While Car No. 1 of Team Jackie Chan DC Racing, also in a Ligier JSP3 with James Winslow in it took third with 1:59.597
