AlPINESTARS TECH-AIR IS AVAILABLE IN MALAYSIA NOW

Here is another exciting round from Alpinestars Malaysia to launch the Tech-Air Airbag System. Sinar Puncak Sdn Bhd, the authorized distributor of Alpinestars, hosted a launch event for the press on 22^nd of July 2023 in Malaysia.

The event mainly showcases the Alpinestars’ Tech-Air family, which includes Tech-Air 10, Tech-Air 5 and Tech-Air 3. To significantly reduce the upper body injuries nowadays, it is mandatory for every MotoGP class rider to wear the airbag system under their leather jackets from the year of 2018. Alpinestars demonstrates their ongoing commitment by providing motorcycle riders all over the world with the latest technological advancements and comprehensive protection from its World-Class Racing Program.

Highlights of the Tech-Air 10, it is currently offering the widest protection (shoulder, chest, hips & full back) of any airbag offers in the market. Wearable Tech-Air 10 is a race-oriented airbag that features 12 sensors (accelerometers + gyroscope). And, the airbag for MotoGP riders is the fundamental developments of Tech-Air 10, which includes the hips coverage. The price range of Tech-Air 10 is at RM 4,899 in sizes M to 2XL. It is easy to use, just zip up the front and fasten the internal belt to activate the airbag system.

Both the RACE and the STREET Riding Modes, which have unique AI accident detection algorithms, can be used with Tech-Air 10, which is intended for use on tracks and on public roads. However, only riding on enclosed race tracks should be done in the RACE riding mode. Therefore, all other riding should not be done in this mode. Besides, the Tech-Air 10 has CE certification level 2 for both the chest and back when the airbag is fully inflated. Most importantly is the passive CE-2 certified for back protectors as well.  There is a removable wireless LED display for the Tech-Air 10 which can either be attached to the waistband of the system or be placed on the motorcycle / sleeve of Alpinestars suit models. The Tech-Air 10 charges completely in 4 hours and provides 24 hours of use. But you still can use it for about 6 hours after charging for about 1 hour if you are short on time.

Tech-Air 5 is one of the powerful demonstrations of Alpinestars for an active airbag system. It is listed at RM 2,999 and available in sizes S to 2XL. Tech-Air 5 is suitable for touring, urban and racing, so there are 2 modes to select which are RACE and STREET mode.

The Tech-Air 5 wearable vest has an active electronics system with 6 integrated sensors, which are 3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers. And, these 6 integrated sensors use AI to monitor exactly acceleration and rider position when to deploy the airbag in the event of a crash. Furthermore, the Tech-Air 5 is uniquely designed to provide the most comprehensive coverage to protect the rider’s shoulders, chest, ribs and full back no matter whether on the road or track.

The Tech-Air 3 is designed to be worn over / under the jacket. It is perfect for urban commutes and adventures on the road, regardless of what kind of bike they ride and riding styles they follow. Tech-Air 3 is a street-oriented over-jacket airbag system. It allows the riders to enjoy the ride and, in the meantime, is protected by an airbag system. It automatically turns on and connects to the battery when the rider zips it up and connects to the internal magnets. In addition, the lightweight and slim-fit Tech-Air 3 vest enables riders to have the sense of freedom and confidence that comes with wearing a protective airbag on the bike. To improve overall comfortability, there is stretch fabric on the side of the torso and it comes with water-resistant outer construction.

The Tech-Air 3 is an effective airbag system at “First Impact 1”. The system is activated before the motorcycle has a direct impact with another vehicle or obstacle. Thus, upper body protection enhances the safety of the motorcycle riders by covering the rider’s entire chest and back. In addition, Tech-Air 3 has CE certification level 2 for both the chest and back when the airbag is fully inflated. It is currently available at the retail price of RM 2,299 (size S to 2XL).

All the Alpinestars’ Tech-Air family members have built-in Bluetooth connectivity where the riders are able to check the operational status, battery status and detailed map of the ride directly from the Tech-Air app on their smartphone. However, only Tech-Air 5 and Tech-Air 10 have dual riding modes to switch, which are RACE riding mode and STREET riding mode. Switching between riding modes enables different crash detection algorithms. It makes the vest more suited for track or road use depending on the mode that is selected.
