BMW Motorrad Malaysia unveils the New BMW F 900 XR and the All-New BMW R 12 nineT.

The All-New BMW R 12 nineT

The New BMW F 900 XR

BMW Motorrad Malaysia introduces the New BMW F 900 XR and the All-New BMW R 12 nineT, further expanding its range of motorcycles that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of Malaysian riders. With these new additions, BMW Motorrad Malaysia continues to bring premium performance and cutting-edge engineering to the local market, offering two distinct choices that reflect the evolving desires of today’s riding enthusiasts.

Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia, shared: “2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for motorcycle enthusiasts in Malaysia, with introduction of the BMW S 1000 RR and BMW F 900 GS Adventure last month already sparking excitement among thrill and adventure seekers. Now, with the arrival of the New BMW F 900 XR and the All-New BMW R 12 nineT, we are catering to two more distinct types of riders. The New BMW F 900 XR delivers the perfect balance of performance and versatility for those seeking dynamic handling and long-distance comfort, while the All-New BMW R 12 nineT speaks to those who appreciate timeless design, craftsmanship, and a pure roadster experience.”

He added, “The New BMW F 900 XR offers a different type of thrill – designed for riders who crave both sportiness and fun, with a focus on performance while maintaining the practicality and versatility needed for longer rides and everyday adventures. In contrast, the All-New BMW R 12 nineT draws guidance from the principle of ‘The Spirit of nineT’, honoring the legacy of the successful BMW R nineT – which remains timeless. It is the ideal choice for those who desire a classic roadster that offers more than just a ride, but also a statement.”

The New BMW F 900 XR features several technical and visual upgrades, alongside a significantly extended standard equipment for the long-distance sports bike in the mid-range segment. Meanwhile, the All-New BMW R 12 nineT embraces BMW Motorrad’s heritage as a classic roadster for dynamic riding on country roads – bringing together classic motorcycle design and modern technology, with high craftsmanship and diverse customization options.

The New BMW F 900 XR: A Confident Companion for Mid-Range Journeys.

The New BMW F 900 XR delivers precise handling across tough terrains, while seamlessly transitioning into a dependable companion for longer rides. It features a new torsionally rigid, upside-down telescopic fork with a slider tube diameter of 43 mm, which guides the front wheel. Both rebound and compression damping, as well as spring preload are now adjustable, which allows tailoring to suit individual requirements. The new, 17-inch cast aluminum wheels weigh 1.8 kg less compared to the predecessor, which in combination with 0.8 kg lighter battery, contributes to an overall weight reduction of 3 kg for the model. The addition of an engine spoiler also serves not only to further accentuate the performance-oriented nature but also improves overall aerodynamic efficiency.

As standard, several other changes further improve the touring capabilities and long-distance comfort on the New BMW F 900 XR, including optimized aerodynamics for the front fairing, a redesigned wind deflector and hand protectors. For greater visibility and safety, Headlight Pro is standard for the New BMW F 900 XR, while the rear has been redesigned with new function-integrated turn indicator lights. Other new standard features of the New BMW F 900 XR include the USB-C charging port on the right-hand side of the cockpit with a maximum charging current of 2.4 A and the heated grips.

At the heart of the New BMW F 900 XR is a high-performance 895cc, water-cooled, 2-cylinder, four-stroke inline engine, which delivers a powerful and responsive 105 hp (77 kW) at 7,500 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. Integrated within the engine housing is a 6-speed constant-mesh transmission, ensuring smooth and efficient power delivery. Meanwhile, while the multi-disc clutch in oil bath provides excellent control and handling in all conditions. Achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, the New BMW F 900 XR promises exhilarating speed, while a top speed of over 200 km/h.

Complementing its performance, the New BMW F 900 XR also prioritizes rider safety with a comprehensive suite of standard advanced safety features. The Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) offers added control by preventing unintentional acceleration during braking, while BMW Motorrad ABS Pro ensures safety around bends by enabling ABS-assisted braking at lean angles. This, in combination with the Dynamic ESA, delivers a whole new feeling of safety while riding. Additionally, the Gear Shift Assistant Pro allows for smooth, clutch-less shifting, enhancing ride comfort by enabling effortless acceleration and deceleration. This system ensures that the rider experiences precise gear changes with minimal effort, making the bike even more responsive and enjoyable to ride. Last but not least, Tyre Pressure Control (TPC) monitors tire pressure and alerts the rider as needed.

Enhancing the overall riding experience, the New BMW F 900 XR incorporates also features a range of features that cater to convenience and comfort. These include the Keyless Ride feature eliminates the need for traditional keys, allowing riders to unlock the ignition and start the bike with ease, simply by carrying the key fob in their pocket or bag. Meanwhile, the Cruise Control system adds a new level of comfort for long-distance touring. By maintaining a constant speed, it reduces the need for manual throttle adjustments, ensuring a more relaxed ride, whether on highways or extended routes. A case holder at the rear allows for convenient attachment of luggage for touring.

The New BMW F 900 XR is available in Racing Blue/Lightwhite uni, which features a black seat, engine spoiler in Racing Blue Metallic, wheels in Racing Red and engine in Avus Black.

The All-New BMW R 12 nine T: A Classic-Style Roadster with a Dynamic, Modern Ride.

The All-New BMW R 12 nineT retains the unmistakable power and character of the iconic boxer engine, combined with the timeless appeal of traditional motorcycles, all while offering extensive modularity for personalization. At the heart of the bike is a newly developed tubular bridge steel spaceframe, which eliminates the need for previous fastenings, resulting in a lighter structure and a cleaner, more classic look. The rear frame, also crafted from tubular steel, is seamlessly bolted to the main frame.

The aluminum fuel tank, with brushed and clear-coated side panels, along with the seat and tail-hump, form a dynamic, rising line that accentuates the bike’s sleek profile. The upside-down fork provides both a sleek look and superior handling, while the radial brake calipers and twin-disc front brake ensure powerful stopping performance. Other distinctive features, such as the chrome-plated header and 17-inch cast light-alloy wheels, enhance its bold character. For improved ergonomics, the rider’s position is slightly closer to the handlebars, allowing for better knee contact and a more front-oriented seating stance. Two analogue round instruments display the speed and rpms, with a USB-C port on the left side and a 12V socket on the right side.

The powerhouse of the All-New BMW R 12 nineT is a 1,170cc water-cooled, 2-cylinder, 4-stroke boxer engine, which delivers an impressive 109 hp (80kW) at 7,000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, with seamless power delivery through a 6-speed claw-shift gearbox and hydraulically operated dry clutch. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, the All-New BMW R 12 nineT is capable of a top speed exceeding 200 km/h, with fuel consumption at 5.1 l/100km (WLTP).

The All-New BMW R 12 nineT is equipped as standard with a comprehensive set of features designed to enhance safety on the ride. These include Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) system for stability and control in various road conditions and BMW Motorrad ABS Pro for superior braking performance even at lean angles. On the other hand, LED Headlights and Daytime Riding Light ensure clear visibility, while the adaptive Headlight Pro system automatically adjusts to lighting conditions, offering superior illumination whether riding in bright daylight or low-light environments.

For a more connected and intuitive experience, Keyless Ride and Connected Ride Control is standard for the All-New BMW R 12 nineT.  Additionally, the Comfort Package offers features such as Cruise Control, Hill Start Control, and Heated Grips, ensuring that long rides are just as comfortable as they are thrilling.
