RECORD-BREAKING GRID FOR SEPANG 1000KM 2024.

The highly anticipated Sepang 1000KM 2024 (S1K), taking place from 21 to 23 November 2024, is set to conclude this year’s event calendar.

Promoted and organized by PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (PETRONAS SIC), the race is supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS), with sanctioning from the Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) and Hankook as the new Official Tyre Distributor for S1K.

This year, the S1K will feature a record-breaking grid, with capacity expanded to a maximum of 90 cars, making it the largest in the event’s history. The race will bring together teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Japan, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Singapore, Macau, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei, competing in categories including Malaysian Touring Car, S Production G, S Production V and Vios Enduro.

Azhan Shafriman Hanif, Chief Executive Officer of PETRONAS SIC shared his excitement, “We are thrilled to welcome the first-ever participation for Netherlands at the S1K. This is a testament to the race increasing recognition and the circuit’s reputation as a global motorsports destination. With competitors from all corners of the world, S1K promises to deliver another exciting chapter in the event history. I am particularly eager to see if Toyota can repeat its podium success, continuing their impressive streak since 2021.”

In an exciting return, Proton R3 is making its comeback to S1K after last race in 2019 with Proton Iriz. This year, Proton will compete with the new Proton S70 R3, featuring two cars. Car #81 will be driven by Syafiq Ali, a three-time S1K winner, and Fahrizal Hasan, known for his success in the Sepang 12 Hours endurance race. Car #82 will be piloted by Ariff Azmi, an 18-year-old karting and touring car champion, and Alister Yoong, the 21-year-old Formula 4 racer and son of former F1 driver, Alex Yoong.

The Official Practice and Qualifying sessions began today, with the race scheduled to flag off on Saturday, 23 November 2024 at 12.00pm, running until 9.00 pm, covering a total of 181 laps. Public can also join the Pit Lane Walk and Taxi Ride available at 9.45am on Saturday.

Beyond the thrilling racing action, S1K offers a variety of exciting activities for everyone. These include the Tamiya Mini BMax Challenge and Simulator Time Attack at Paddock Club 1, limited to 100 participants. The public can access Main Grandstand for free and experience the action up close with Paddock passes priced at RM150 and a premium hospitality experience at RM318 that is available for purchase at www.sepangcircuit.com.

Additionally, in celebration of 2 Tahun Madani, there will be a Zumba Dance sessions, hosted at the Paddock Rooftop and Colouring Contest for kids aged 7 to 12 years old that will be conducted at Paddock Club 1.
