The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupé.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently introduces the new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupé. With numerous innovations and upgraded equipment, Mercedes-Benz is strengthening the position of the Mercedes-AMG CLA Coupé as a trendsetter in the compact performance segment.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S stands for absolute top performance in the compact four-door coupé segment. With an output of 310 kW (421 hp), the Coupé accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and the top speed is limited to 270 km/h. In addition to the pure performance figures, the AMG 2.0-litre turbo engine impresses with its spontaneous response. The fully variable all-wheel drive with AMG TORQUE CONTROL makes a significant contribution to the dynamic driving experience. The rear-axle transmission contains two electronically controlled multi-plate clutches, each of which is connected to a driveshaft on the rear axle. This allows the drive power to be distributed variably not only between the front and rear axles, but also wheel-selectively between the left and right rear wheels. The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension equipped within the AMG CLA 45 S provides superior performance in everyday driving and on the racetrack.

Exterior

The new AMG CLA 45 S has an AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical slats, a reshaped front apron and a round badge with the AMG emblem that reinforces the brand affiliation. The revised design of the inside of the headlights with MULTIBEAM LED technology and the LED taillights also characterises the AMG CLA 45 S. The new paint colours hyper blue and spectral blue, extend the choice for individualisation. MANUFAKTUR mountain grey MAGNO and MANUFAKTUR patagonia red metallic paint are also available as options for an additional cost. As standard, the new CLA Coupé is fitted with 19” AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels aerodynamically optimised and painted in matt black high-sheen rim flange with red painted brake callipers. Both the 19” AMG cross-spoke forged wheels and 19” AMG 5-twin-spoke light alloy wheels are offered as optional. The AMG CLA 45 S also features AMG illuminated door sills with “AMG” lettering and with exchangeable covers.

With the AMG Night package, selected exterior features such as the front splitter, exterior mirror housing, as well as the belt and windowline trim strip are finished in high-gloss black resulting in strong contrasts. Chrome-plated tailpipes in black add to the sense of superior reserve. The AMG Night Package II and AMG fuel cap are available as additional options. The optional AMG Night Package II features AMG-specific radiator grille, darkened with vertical struts, model badge on bootlid and wings, as well as Mercedes star at the rear all in black chrome. To improve handling at high speeds and even greater driving enjoyment, the AMG CLA 45 S comes with the AMG Aerodynamics package. The option to include the AMG Aerodynamics Package Plus is also available.

New to the AMG CLA 45 S is the Driving Assistance Package consisting of Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and Active Brake Assist allowing drivers to reach their destinations feeling more relaxed and safer. The Active Parking Assist with 360° camera makes it easier for drivers to find a parking space and to manoeuvre into and out of parking spaces. For an added ease of mind, the AMG CLA 45 S is equipped with GUARD 360° Vehicle protection Plus.

Interior

The interior features two 10.25-inch displays offering a holistic high-tech experience and create an exceptionally open spatial architecture. The AMG CLA 45 S also offers the new AMG Performance steering wheel with double-spoke design in nappa leather/MICROCUT microfiber and seamlessly integrated buttons. The AMG steering wheel buttons impress with brilliant displays and intuitive operating logic. These allow for important driving functions and all drive programmes to be controlled without taking the driver’s hands off the steering wheel. The head-up display allows the driver to have a direct view of key information ensuring their full attention remains on the road and the traffic conditions.

The AMG Performance seats with AMG Performance Seat Package Advanced comes with the combination of ARTICO man-made leather with MICROCUT microfibre. Leather upholstery is available as optional. The performance seats paired with MANUFAKTUR seat belts in red further accentuates the sportiness of the cabin. For the trim elements, Aluminium AMG Design blends in harmoniously while also creating exciting contrasts.

THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control in the AMG CLA 45 S controls the individual temperature in two zones. The two front passengers can thus set their preferred climate independently from one another. For an added sense of practicality, the Load Compartment Package combines additional stowage and connection options such as the 12 V socket making transport of everyday and recreational items a breeze.

Latest generation MBUX and Burmester^Ò sound system with Dolby Atmos

The new AMG CLA 45 S features the latest generation of MBUX – with newly designed display styles: “Classic” provides all relevant driver information, “Sporty” impresses with the dynamic rev counter and “Discreet” is limited to the most essential items. Together with the three modes (Navigation, Assistance, Service) and seven colour worlds, the instrument cluster and central display can be individualised according to the driver’s wishes and the situation. The central display offers all previous functions such as navigation, media, phone, vehicle, etc. and can be operated conveniently as a touchscreen.

The revised telematics system impresses with a new design and improved performance. A new feature is connectivity with smartphones via wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. For further connectivity, the AMG CLA 45 S has an additional USB-C port and increased USB charging capacity. All USB ports are now illuminated. Wireless charging system for mobile devices in the front allows driving time to become charging time.

The latest iteration of MBUX includes the recognisable “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. The MBUX Interior Assistant equipped in the AMG CLA 45 S detects, interprets, and differentiates both the driver and front passenger’s hand and arm movements through the advanced 3D camera system. When approaching the media display, the MBUX Interior Assistant will activate the reading light and will highlight the controls on the media display such as menus for the home screen, radio, map navigation, or Active Parking Assist.

In conjunction with the latest MBUX generation, the Burmester^Ò surround sound system now features the immersive Dolby Atmos audio experience. It gives music more space, clarity, and depth. Dolby Atmos allows discrete audio elements or objects to be placed in a three-dimensional sound field and adapted to any playback environment.

For an even sportier driving experience, the AMG Driver’s package increases the AMG CLA 45 S top speed to 270 km/h. The AMG TRACK PACE transforms the vehicle into a virtual race engineer. With the aid of lap, sector, and acceleration times plus selected live telemetry data, the driver can specifically analyse and improve their driving skills on cordoned-off tracks. The AMG CLA 45 S now comes equipped with AMG Real Performance Sound making the Mercedes-AMG sound even more emotive and the driver can determine how the turbocharged engine sounds in the interior. At the press of a button, it can be adjusted between a subtle, sporty sound (BALANCED) and an emotional, motorsport sound (POWERFUL).

AMG Street Style Edition

A special limited edition is available for the AMG CLA 45 S: the AMG Street Style Edition. With its MANUFAKTUR mountain grey MAGNO paintwork and side foiling with the AMG logo and AMG pattern in the chequered-flag design, it emphasises the sporty appearance. The same applies to the colour accents in fluorescent orange. The edition rolls on 19-inch AMG forged wheels in a cross-spoke design, painted matte black and with a high-sheen turned rim flange. The red-painted brake callipers form an attractive contrast to both wheels. Other exterior elements include the AMG Aerodynamics package, the AMG Night package I and II and the AMG fuel-filler cap.

The interior of the AMG Street Style Edition also has a distinctive design: The AMG Performance seat in black ARTICO/MICROCUT microfibre is adorned with seams and highlights in bright orange. The “CLA 45 S” label, also in orange, carries the brand emblem over to the interior. The AMG Performance steering wheel in MICROCUT leather/microfibre and the AMG trim elements in aluminium (with the same pattern as the exterior foiling) add further accents to the interior. Attention to detail is also demonstrated by the instrument panel with contrasting orange stitching and the AMG door-sill trims with “AMG” lettering, a black interchangeable cover and Edition-specific lighting in red. AMG floor mats with “Street Style Edition” lettering and orange stitching complete the high-quality interior design.
